Rin awoke suddenly, only opening her eyes to find that there were strange tears pooled on her cheeks. Again.
It was not a novel occurrence to find herself like this, but she never understood what brought them on. Maybe it was something she had dreamed; but then again, she never quite remembered her dreams anyway. She quickly wiped them away on the shoulder of her wrinkled button-down shirt.
It seemed she had fallen asleep on the quad for much longer than she meant to. Oh well.
Waking up on her back meant that the first sight to greet her was that of the sky, and the thick cover of leaves of the tree she had slept under that blocked the harsh midday sun. She always found that looking or thinking about the sky was like reflecting it, as if the pool of the mind absorbed the wide, slow expanse of the clouds, making her thoughts just as sluggish and unclear. She relaxed back into the trunk, so still and so quiet that it seemed that at any moment she would become part of the tree, become one of it's thick roots that, like a bulging vein, stuck up from the ground and seemed to pulse with life.
Before she could completely give in to this sensation of peace, she was stirred to action by the sound of a bell. Were classes being dismissed for lunch?
Shaking out her unruly copper hair, she shot to her feet. She had the distinct feeling that there was something important she was forgetting.
The noon sun was hot and she could tell from the flurry of activity in the distance that it was, indeed, lunch time.
Her nap was not left unnoticed. She was getting a lot of looks from the students that passed by: some curious, others piteous. She didn't mind them though, she was used to getting attention in public places.
The wind picked up and her knotted sleeves swung gracefully with it. She shifted her feet and heard a soft clinking in her pocket.
It was her room key.
Suddenly remembering that she had someplace to be, she walked over to the girl's dormitories. There were very few people in the building at the time, perhaps because of the lunch hour.
It was all the same to Rin as she climbed the ornate staircase to the second floor. She had forgotten what room number she was assigned to. It was six fifty-something...
She could check her key, but then again, what would she grab it with? Her mouth? Oh dear, this was proving to be more tedious than she originally thought.
There was no one there to help her, so she picked the first door, number 652, and tried the handle with her foot. No dice.Seeing as there was nothing she could do until someone showed up, she laid on the ground, her legs stretched upward against the door, patiently thinking of four things at once to pass the time: her mysterious new roommate (who she only knew by name as Moriyami Shiemi), the boy's uniform she will have to find, her sudden craving for oranges, and -
Oh. Rin was jerked out of her thoughts by the figure of a student standing right in front of her, or rather above her, depending on the perspective. The view from the floor upwards was definitely something new, to say the least.
{OOC: I'd love some feedback. This is my first ever AU RP starter, or a starter of any RP really!}
Shiemi looked up at her new school building and took a deep breath. She couldn't help but feeling a bit frightened. Meeting new people and making friends... could she really do it? Looking over at her tiny familiar sitting on her shoulder, he nodded encouragingly. A determined look came across Shiemi's face,"You're right, Nii-chan. We can do this!"
