Amala’s Blade WIP
#AmalasBlade sketchbook doodle cut short by the paying gigs. Gotta get back to the grind. #DarkHorse #comics #fun #sketchbook
One of the big-hits at Athens' Comicdom Con 2013 was Amala's Blade!
Amala's Blade merchandise were courtesy of Michael Dialynas (aka TheWoodenKing / woodencrown). I won them through the facebook competition they held. I got a package which included the comic Amala's Blade #0 signed by Dialynas! A pin of the ghost monkey featured in the comic, a small poster, and a huge poster which glows in the dark!!!
I have to admit i had a hard time carrying the big poster all night, but it was worth it.
I read the comic, which was very well scripted, with high-packed action and comic relief, providing the necessary initial hints of the main character's storyline and the universe created by Steve Horton. The story takes place at the kingdom of Naamaron, where there is division between the Purifiers (low-tech) and Modifiers (high-tech/cyborg-like). I would describe the setting as steampunk-pirates.
Amala is the deadliest assassin for the vizier (do not who/what that is yet and i am itching to find out). Her past indicates -through the manifestation of ghosts- that she was destined for greatness; to unite the two opposing regimes. However she chose to escape her fate and became an assassin, the greatest assassin according to her.
I loved the art and was intrigued by the story, so i will be reading more of Amala's Blade in the future!
Making the #AmalasBlade promo poster.
