One more CCAD Fashion Show. No theme this year with each of the students executing their own collections. There were a few well-made capsule collections - Amanda Mae Smith and Alyssa Johnson sent down the runway pretty solid everyday-wear outfits, minus a few blemishes, but still well constructed. I liked that both, Amanda and Alyssa had a point of view and made something beyond evening wear.
It was great to see some avant garde knit garments with Nuonan Ruan, reminiscent of the Japanese minimalism in the 80's. Two pieces presented were interesting, but for my taste, too much art, too little clothes. Where were the wearable pieces? If you start with art, show us you can actually make clothes. If Nuonan had time only for two garments, it should have been a wiser choice with the first outfit being totally art - and the other - interpreted and wearable.
For the winner I would have picked a different gal, the Limited Brands choice was a bit cliché, but on brand :)
