4.16: Our Last Dance | 4.17: Where'd You Come From, Little Angel?
Okay I'm calling the Will Trent fanbase out here, why don't we talk more about this goddess of Amanda Wagner??
But also:
Will Trent | "One of Us Now" 3x13
catch-all (very scattered and disorganized) will trent post
i thought that arrest scene between angie and ormewood was interesting because emotionally it feels like angie needed to be the one to take reba in, not ormewood- but the look ormewood gives her as he cuffs reba makes it seem like he's concerned about angie's judgment in that moment. is that something that's going to linger between them or will it disappear by the next episode?
it's an interesting character beat to have ormewood feel a connection with joanne and then not reach out to her after saying he would because he decided he's "out of her league." it seems like another symptom of his cancer and recovery, and his struggle with his self-perception, his belief that he's not worthy of being with someone he sees as above him or too good or too cool for him or whatever. it's interesting to actually see his insecurities in action.
he eventually does ask joanne out, but doesn't do it until the psychic kid essentially benevolently manipulates him into it. then he ends up getting so many things wrong- but it turns out joanne doesn't care that it wasn't perfect, she just wanted him to reach out and make an effort. (also there was specifically a bridge.)
ALSO let me just say it was super evil of them to play ormewood's date song over the scene of faith dumping malcolm's letters and giving them to caroline to shred. i was kind of disappointed she didn't read them but it makes sense that she wouldn't, knowing that malcolm might still be able to charm her.
amanda and faith's fight at the kitchen island was great and super juicy. i was proud of faith for being able to look back somewhat objectively at her relationship with malcolm. amanda's refusal to see she and faith were in the same boat was frustrating but all too realistic, and her comment about being the "sad old lady" or however she'd worded that, oof. poor amanda. also hey! we finally got a scene in the house after 4x02! it just didn't also involve ormewood or the kids. 🤪
so is that the last we're going to hear of malcolm? are we not really going to see him again onscreen?
also what does ormewood's budding relationship mean for him and faith? (they're teamed up in at least two of the next five episodes so i know i won't be lacking for interactions.....) is faithwood dead or is this part of the ongoing story. 🤔 what does joanne know of their relationship and living situation, if anything? what of ormewood's dodgy past? her comment about not liking secrets was kind of tossed off in the moment but feels like it could become significant at a future date.
FINALLY. jake is a really good kisser (i say this like im surprised, i watched that man make out with multiple women across three seasons of quantico, he was born to make out with women cooler and more badass than he) and i can't believe this is only the second kiss he's had on the show, the other one being his tumor-induced fever dream of a kiss with ariana madix that was definitely played for laughs. he should kiss everyone on the show except bill appleyard.
didn't seem to be much development on the adelaide and antonio front. maybe next week?
i'm about ten minutes away from actually finishing the episode so i might make a separate post just for the stuff between amanda, casey, appleyard, and pearl the glittery dancer later.
i'll also probably definitely have some more refined faithwood, ormewood/joanne, and ormewood character development thoughts at some point tonight/tomorrow. (i will say this, i made a face when ormewood got offended joanne stopped calling him michael. excuse you sir.)
WHAT THE FUCK?!??!???? HOW FUCKING DARE THEY?!?!?? THEY KILLED HER?!?!!????!
I’m so distraught. They finally give the bi older Black woman a sapphic romance, they break up an episode later, and then they kill her?!?!?? I’m fuming
Will Trent 3x01 + people throwing stuff at Will
For an exceedingly zany show, no other Will Trent plot line has been as insane to me as killing off Amanda Wagner like that.
ngl these last 2 episodes had me cried so much...
