AMANDA OWENS: THE ARTICLE
It is with raging affection that we bid farewell to Amanda Owens as a studio artist at The MakeSpace. A founding member of our community, Amanda is known among us for having the toppest of knots: her eye for aesthetics, her attention to detail and her flair for party-planning made her contributions to the MakeSpace of immeasurable value. Having served in administrative and events-planning roles, she also contributed to the Bloodlines and Gallery Walk exhibits in the gallery. We will miss her cackle, her traces of gold and glitter in every inch of the studio space, and we are considering changing the name of the organization to AmandaSpace.
Amanda trivia:
1. Amanda has never, ever, been in the MakeSpace basement. 2. For the entire duration of her studio tenure, Amanda kept a drawer of her desk full of doll heads. 3. Amanda knows more about sharks than is normal for a non-marine-biologist. 4. Amanda has a gleaming website.
For non-trivial information, you can cite any number of the articles written on her:
1. Five Questions for Amanda Owens (Harrisburg Magazine) 2. A Bracing Heartfelt Drama (The Burg) 3. At the MakeSpace (Harrisburg Magazine) 4. Fennec Design Lookbook (DaniFresh.com) 5. Fall Style Guides: Amanda Owens (PennLive) 6. Harrisburg Costume Designer Returns to Alma Mater (Messiah College)
See you soon, Amanda. We love you.

BIO: Amanda Owens is a costume designer and artist with an infinite love for textiles and the absurd. Her artistic artillery includes a passion for the intersection of highbrow and lowbrow culture and a BA in Art History from Messiah College. Amanda has designed and collaborated on several productions and projects for Gamut Theatre Group, including Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird" and William Shakespeare's "Coriolanus". This fall, she returned to her alma mater as an adjunct faculty member and designer for the Theatre and Dance Department's 2013-2014 main stage season. Outside of costuming, Owens indulges her magpie tendencies by painting everything gold and leaving trails of glitter wherever she may venture. In 2012, she co-founded The MakeSpace, an artist collective in the heart of Uptown Harrisburg, dedicated to helping artists and the community get the resources they need.
