About Lucifer 3x09 ‘The Sinnerman’

I think I expected a lot more from that episode. The only part that really shocked me was where he carved out his own eyes so as to not be tempted by Lucifer. #dedication 

Otherwise, it was entirely too predictable. I absolutely hate the Chloe and Pierce dynamic. The reason Chloe and Lucifer such as interesting partnership is because they’re so different. Pierce and Chloe have practically the same backstory. They react similarly to almost every scenario. Not to mention Pierce is an asshole to Chloe like 85% of the time. Their attraction or whatever feels so forced.  Also, why the hell is Chloe so chill about Lucifer being kidnapped twice?! 

Basically, what I’m asking is why are the stand-alone episodes of this season genuinely better written (the Vegas episode was so great and the episode about Linda’s ex) than the season-long plot. The Sinnerman has so much potential to bring out the dark in Lucifer and create a stronger bond between him and Chloe. Except all we got is Lucifer doing his own thing, Chloe being the most passive she’s been since the beginning of the show, multiple forced romances (Chloe-Pierce, Amenadiel-Linda), and putting one of the best relationships on the show in jeopardy (Linda-Maze). Like can we stop? Please.
