I can’t wait to vote for Amara!!! I would love to see someone with her drive, vision, story, and testimony hold the position of mayor for the City of Chicago. She’s the daughter of Nigerian immigrants, she’s a woman, she’s a Black woman, she’s a woman of color, she’s a minority, she speaks multiple languages, she has a Bachelors degree in journalism, Masters degree in Education, a law degree, and a PhD in Education Policy, and she’s a two time Ironman competitor, and marathoner. I would just really love to see someone with this background and life experience in a position of influence and change. Too often in positions of power the people with that power are white men. Nothing against white men or white people, obviously; but wouldn’t it be nice to see a mayor who knows what it’s like to be a minority, a woman, a black woman, a woman of color, a resident of the West Side, of an immigrant family?, BUT at the same time knows what it’s like to work her a$$ off not only intellectually, but physically. No politician has ALL the answers, and no politician will be liked by everyone, but I want to see someone in office who has a different perspective on life because they’ve walked in a pair of shoes that many people in Chicago are walking in right now. I want to see someone in office who’s not here for the politics, but for the people, regardless of your race, religion, sexual orientation, native language, income level, or immigration status. I want to see someone who will operate with integrity, honesty, and a commitment to the PEOPLE of CHICAGO; someone who thinks about how the decisions made in city government impacts those less fortunate. I’m voting for her because I think that as a strong, educated, hardworking people driven candidate, her experiences and education would deem her an amazing fit to run this city. A new, fresh, unique, perspective, untainted by the old ways, and the boy’s club mentality.
