Special election in Texas yesterday decisively flipped a hard red seat to blue in a district Trump won by 17 points. That's great news. It absolutely is. If for nothing else than for the stark panic on Republican faces this morning. Winter is coming for these fascists and they know it. But those Republicans can read the writing on the wall just as well as you and they'll do everything they can to prevent this from happening again. They'll use every dirty trick, disenfranchisement, purging voter rolls, intimidation, threats of violence, misinformation, the courts, ICE, and more. If they can cheat, they will. So, you have to show up. No screwing around. No staying home and hoping someone else will do it for you. No protest voting. No bothersiderism. No more bullshit excuses. You show up, you vote, and you win. And you can win. You can. If you can win in Texas, in a hard red Evangelical district, then you can win anywhere. Any district. Any state. You're looking right at the proof, right here. So don't let anyone tell you that you can't win. Don't tell yourself you can't win. You can. But you have to show up. You have to show up so hard and so furiously that they lose even if they cheat. You have to show up so hard that they'll feel this defeat in their miserable bones for the rest of their miserable lives. If we can win Texas, we can win it all. YOU HAVE TO SHOW UP You have to show up and bring all your friends. You have to do everything you can to prevent them from dismissing your vote. You have check your registration, over and over if that's what it takes. You make arrangements in advance, get off work, transportation, drive your friends and neighbors, whatever you have to do. You bring ID, two forms, three, and shove it in their face if they demand it. You don't let yourself be intimidated by the asshole with the gun in the parking lot, you stare that fascist goon down and hold your place in line and you encourage everyone else to do the same. You're the leader, so lead. You fill in the circles. You watch while they count it. You get your receipt. You show up and you do it. YOU HAVE TO SHOW UP Even if you don't want to. Even if you don't like the choices. You show up and you cast your vote against fascism. If not for yourself, then for all the others with the boot on their throat. For the woman shot in the eye by ICE this morning, for Alex Pretti, for Renee Nicole, for everyone they murdered, for the veterans they deported, for the women they raped in detention, for the children they stole from their parents, for the Epstein victims, for all the people brutalized by this damn Administration. You show up for them.
YOU HAVE TO SHOW UP No excuses. No bullshit. You show up for all those who can't. You show up for those who died before there were vaccinations, and who'll die now because of these lunatics. You show up for all those who were silenced and are only remembered by that history they're taking down in the national parks and museums. You show the hell up because it's your duty as a citizen to stand against these dirty rotten sons of bitches. You show up, because it's your responsibility to stand for those who no longer can and for the future we'll never see. YOU HAVE TO SHOW UP You don't have of the luxury of ignoring what's happening. You don't have the privilege of being complacent anymore. You show up for Selma, for The Trail of Tears, for the WWII Internment Camps, for Women's Suffrage, for Stonewall, for those who died on the beach at Normandy, for all those who came before, who marched and protested and gave their lives to make a better world. You show up because you're an American and it's your goddamn job. Now, get after it.
