@chalkymints: It would be slightly more difficult to break records with one fewer jumping pass, but the men could remove their easiest jumping pass - a triple worth 5-6 points - and replace one of their other triples with a quad, worth 10+ points, which would make up for the base value of the missing triple. So records can still be broken. There is still GOE to consider, as well - we don’t know what the new GOE values will look like after they switch it to -5 to +5.
@amaryllisphantomhive: Removing the pairs’ choreo sequence is just as bad, if not worse. Pairs programs are already full of elements with little room to breathe. The choreo sequence is one of the few places where pair teams have freedom to choreograph it how they want. Removing the ChSq potentially removes more individuality from pairs programs. We would prefer if one of the other elements were removed instead to accommodate the length reduction.
