After college, [Rachel Reid] joined a burlesque society in the city. “It was my Rocky Horror Picture Show moment without the killer aliens,” she says. “You saw this other world, and you’re like, Oh, these are the people I want to be with. I want to be like these cool, interesting, artsy, queer people.” Her stage name was Miss Conduct, and one of her routines was a striptease getting out of hockey gear; in another, a hockey stick was her scene partner. “It was getting fresh with me, and I’d slap it,” she says. That’s where she met her husband, Matt Reid, who was the pianist for the show.
