Parenthood ~ Mini-Story by Torchic. 'w'

If I said parenthood was easy, I’d get headshot right away for lying. Parenthood is everything but easy. My wife and I found that one out the hard way.

It all started the night we took our son, Clemmot, home. He was a little angel at the hospital, but at 1am that night we realised he was just acting.

“Usia,” my wife, Skyla moaned, a pillow over her head. “It’s your turn to take care of him!”

“But-” I started before I was immediately interrupted.

“I took care of him while it wasn’t visiting hours,” Skyla replied bluntly as I have out a large sigh of defeat.

“I’ll take care of him now,” I murmured as I pulled off my blankets. Since it was in the middle of winter, the weather wasn’t all that desirable. As my son’s wails grew louder, I forced my body off the bed and stumbled into his room. “Okay, mate,” I whispered as I leant over his cot to pick him up. “What’s wrong with you?”

As I cradled him, gently bouncing up and down, I heard footsteps as I realised Skyla had joined me. She leant on the doorframe, her arms crossed. I heard her little chuckled as she looked at me with caring eyes (well, there’s a first time for everything).

“Need help, hun?” she asked as she joined my side. The wails from Clemmot slowly died down as his mother stroked his forehead.

“And you didn’t want to help me,” I grumbled as I heard the soft coos from Clemmot. “What changed your mind?”

“We’re a team,” Skyla whispered as she kissed her son’s forehead, followed by kissing my lips. “And he’s our son. Which means we both share the efforts. Never forget that.”
