Guess what...it's September 1st...Children's Cancer Awareness Month! If we've been friends awhile or if you are in my tight circle, you've already heard this story before, but let me tell you a again along with everyone else! It is of the utmost importance that I let the world know that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month! Why you ask? Madelyn Grace...my beautiful, amazing, kind hearted, brilliant, full of energy overachieving athlete was born with Stage IV Neuroblastoma (solid tumor cancer of the nervous system). Diagnosed only 10 days before Christmas and at 3 months old, she was stage IV and the odds of survival were about 20%. After 8 rounds of chemo, many surgeries, too many nights/days at the hospital, terrifying emergency trips to the hospital, countless MRI's, and too many needles and shots to mention...here we are...10 years later and she is here to share her story to the world. While she doesn't remember the terrifying near death experience she went through....we make sure she knows every single day how special she is. How too many children who had the same cancer she had didn't make it (many of our friends along the way) and how we know without a shadow of doubt God chose to leave his beautiful child here with us to enjoy every single day to be a testament of what he can do. Ironically enough, while September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month...it is also her birthday month...she'll be 11yo on the 20th! This is only the beginning of Madelyn Grace's story. He has some amazing things planned for her! I just know it! Awareness and financial support is critical in finding a cure for childhood cancer. We all can do our part and donate to this cause.
