Chadli empfängt ihn … fünfmal?

Wir schauen schon lange kaum noch klassisches lineares Fernsehen. Amazon Prime und Netflix, werbefrei, Serien nach Wunsch, wunderbar. Die letzten Ausnahmen sind Fastnacht in Franken und Fußball-EM und -WM.

Dementsprechend ist das technische Equipment unseres Fernsehers internetabhängig: ein Fire-Stick mit WLAN-Anbindung liefert die beiden genannten Streaming-Anbieter. Der Fernseher kann auch direkt Smart-TV, aber ohne Prime, deswegen wird diese Funktion nicht genutzt. Eine Satellitenschüssel auf dem Dach und eine uralte Hausantenne existieren zwar noch, haben aber keinen Empfang.

Für Fastnacht in Franken hatten wir eine Fernseh-App auf dem Fire-Stick installiert, die ihren Zweck erfüllt. Bei den ersten WM-Spielen fällt zwar ab und zu ein Hänger im Stream auf, der aber nicht weiter stört. Der befürchtete Nachbarn-jubeln-Minuten-vorher-Effekt bleibt dank des fehlenden Erfolgs der deutschen Mannschaft auch aus.

Als Frankreich-Fans richtet sich unsere Fanliebe dann auf Les Bleus und am Halbfinaldienstag starten wir erwartungsvoll die App.

Es ist grauenhaft. Der Stream hängt, der Stream geht minutenlang gar nicht, der Stream hat keinen Ton.

Panisch versuche ich es mit der sonst ungenutzten Smart-TV-Funktion des Fernsehers. Diese beschließt, nach so langer Zeit sei ein größeres Update nötig, was ich wütend verweigere.

Ich schließe den Laptop per LAN-Kabel ans Internet an und verbinde ihn per HDMI-Kabel mit dem Fernseher, ein für DVD-Schauen etabliertes Verfahren. Während dieser Arbeiten steht mein Smartphone auf dem Tisch und empfängt den Livestream per Mobilfunknetz - die 12 GB, die der magentafarbene Anbieter mir gewährt, können sich ja mal bezahlt machen.

Laptop und Fernseher liefern jetzt wieder Stream und wir entspannen uns. Minute 30, 31 …

Irgendwann sagt mein Mann: “Das hängt doch, es wiederholt sich dauernd.”

Ich wundere mich jetzt auch, dass der Kommentator zum 5. Mal feststellt: “Chadli empfängt ihn … da ist der Ball …”. Auf dem Bildschirm läuft die Zeitanzeige aber weiter, Minute 34.

Offenbar hängt die Tonspur. Ich drehe dem Laptop-Fernseher-Gespann den Ton ab, starte wieder den Livestream auf dem Handy und stelle dieses laut. Das geht ein paar Minuten, dann hängen sich beide Streams auf. Es geht gar nichts mehr.

Ich schreie den Mann an, er solle auf den Dachboden gehen und schauen, die Uraltantenne und den Satellitenreceiver in Gang zu bringen. Der 14jährige sagt, er hole jetzt den alten Desktop, den wir verkaufen wollen, und hänge den an. Ich schreie, das bringe doch nichts, wenn der Laptop nicht streamen kann, dann doch der Desktop auch nicht. “Jetzt chill mal, Mama, und lass mich machen!”

Minute 43.

Der Mann kommt vom Dachboden und berichtet, er habe das Kabel von der Uralthausantenne eingesteckt. Ich schalte den Fernseher auf Antenne, mache Sendersuchlauf, nix.

Halbzeitpause.

Der 14jährige baut auf dem Boden Desktop, Tastatur, Maus auf, verbindet LAN-Kabel mit Desktop und Desktop und Fernseher mit HDMI. Tastatur geht erst nicht. Ich schreie, er habe noch 10 Minuten. Der Plan, die 11jährige in der Halbzeitpause ins Bett zu bringen, wird aufgegeben. Der Mann sitzt am Tisch und trinkt Rotwein. Französischen natürlich.

Tastatur geht endlich, Desktop erwacht zum Leben. Jetzt bloß kein Windows-Update. Tastatur erlaubt gnädig Anmeldung im Windows und Start des Firefox.

Pünktlich zum Anpfiff nach der Pause läuft der Stream auf dem Bildschirm. Er läuft. Er ruckelt nicht. Der 14jährige fühlt sich wie der König der Welt.

Ich falle total fertig aufs Sofa, bekomme auch ein Glas Wein, bin so fertig, dass das Tor von Umtiti (Minute 51) mir nur noch ein mattes Blöken entlockt. Aber der Stream läuft, und Chadli empfängt niemanden mehr.

Meine Frage, warum der Laptop den Stream nicht weiterleiten konnte, der Desktop aber schon, bleibt unbeantwortet. Aber Frankreich kommt ins Finale, und das Kabel-Arrangement auf dem Boden neben dem Fernseher bleibt in dieser Konfiguration bis Sonntag aufgebaut.

super fucking annoyed bc i just got my firestick and was able to install kodi but kodi is useless without addons. every tutorial says to install from zip file but that’s not an option on the fucking firestick????

Quick tip y'all

I highly suggest investing in an Amazon Fire Stick. You'll have to get it jail broken after buying it (pay someone or find out how to do it yourself on YouTube), and it let's you watch pretty much anything. Usually new episodes are posted after an hour. Sometimes sooner. Hell, I managed to watch a movie that I couldn't find anywhere else because, well, it wasn't even being released until a few months later. It's usually cheap, even if you pay someone to jailbreak it. Either way, it's cheaper than cable. After a few months, it'll be cheaper than Netflix and the majority of streaming sites. All you need is a television and an internet connection. It's super great. Especially if you're dead broke. Please get it.

Zeichen und Wunder

In der Wohnung, in der wir für ein paar Tage zu Besuch sind, haben wir nach einem HDMI-Kabel gesucht, aber einen Fire Stick von Amazon im Fernseher gefunden. Große Verblüffung, als ich den Chrome-Browser auf meinem Macbook umstandslos darauf casten konnte.
