Educational Post about the Amazon Rainforest
This post is because I saw something that said the Amazon Rainforest is losing a “football field” a day. Not even close. A football field is 1.32 acres. The Amazon is losing 10,000 acres a day. And That statistic is an average. That would be 3.65 million acres a year. In 2020, it lost 5 million acres of trees. This year it has lost over 2 million acres. An acre has an average of 300-800 trees.
10 million acres (2 year estimate) x 500 trees an acre (average) = 5 billion trees.
Meanwhile… there’s a “plant a Trillion trees” project going on to help offset climate change.
Educational Post now turned into Bill Gates Rant
Bill Gates says that won’t work because we can’t assume that areas that haven’t been viable to grow trees can all the sudden necessarily grow trees.
Does Bill Gates realize we lost 5 billion trees in the Amazon in the last two years alone ?
Does Bill Gates realize we cut down 15 billion trees a year for lumber?
Does Bill Gates realize we cut down 2 billion trees a year for paper?
That’s 20 billion trees a year just from loss in the Amazon and chopping for lumber and paper.
Maybe it’s not a trillion trees. But replacing and preventing loss is a great place to start. it’s a natural way to restore the balance of oxygen/ carbon dioxide in the air.
By the way climate change is really happening. Ice caps are melting. The sea level is rising. There are holes in the ozone and there is global warming. We are destroying our air, water, and land with pollution. There is a pole shift coming.
However putting money towards solving climate change is the questionable part and how much money. And that it became a political issue is just wrong.
But Instead of just leaving scientists or activists to handle these solutions of how to slow climate change or reverse the damage we are doing; now you ALSO have these tech conglomerates taking on solutions. The solutions may work, but they are taking on the solutions that will line their own pockets.
Bill Gates knows how many trees we lose a year. He’s one of the most educated men on the planet. He also knows that it’s a low cost natural solution to the problem. However, His idea is to eliminate fossil fuels. So him and Jeff Bezos just invested in Greenland. They are about to destroy Greenland to mine lithium batteries.
Wait you mean the same Bill Gates who bought most of the U.S. farms and is starting his cattlle breeding with other countries, but wants the rich to switch to synthetic beef!
Wait you mean the same Bill Gates who primarily funds the World Health Organization and pushes vaccines worldwide?
Say wait isn’t this the same Bill Gates who invented windows, then when they got viruses, didn’t he magically have the solution then too???
Well jeez isn’t he a Jack of all trades???

donation commisions
hihi! so the continent of Australia and the Amazon Rainforest are both on fire and my ability to help is very limited, so i would like to hop on the trend of making content in exchange for proof of donation to the relief efforts to either of these tragedies. you can check out Charity Navigator's pages on the Rainforest and Australia to find organizations to donate to and once you have, send me proof of it, and you'll get yourself a commission (posted to tumblr & ao3). for every $5 you donate, i'll write 500 words. normally i ask for $3 per hundred words, but let's face it, the majority of the internet is poor and i'd rather get at least a little bit of support in than none. you can split a donation to relief efforts in both the Amazon and Australia and i'll count it as one. so let's get cracking.
(here is the fine print. i can't fit the entire plot of an avengers re-write into less than 1k let alone 500, so keep that in mind when making your requests; plot correlates to word count. i will do any rating you would like. i will write any fluff you would like. i will write any smut you want. i will write any angst you would like but i will question your sanity considering it. i will write any fandom permitting that i know the characters well enough to write them (i.e., star wars, mcu, star trek, harry potter, percy jackson, whatever). heck, if you have some OCs you'd like to see in my writing style, bring it on. i will write any pairing bar underage/adult ships or abusive ships. i will not write scat play or abusive behaviors. last, i can't write anything bigger than 5k but please donate whatever you can.)
Hank out here spitting actual facts and truth and it is simply saddening how 50-65 year olds ruling the world are so short visioned and simply don't care about us right now.
I hate reading/watching science news because it makes me sad and makes me hate myself for being unable to take action.

SINGAPORE – At the bottom of the world are the wild southern oceans, where vast oceans are whipped by westerly winds called roaring forties and furious fifties. image from google But as inaccessible and unpredictable as the frozen Southern Ocean may seem, it plays a major role in making global life possible by controlling global climate and acting as a huge heat sink, and controlling the…

Deforestation Wiped Out 8% Of Amazon Rainforest In 18 Years: Study
Damage caused by wildfires in Otuquis National Park, southeast of the Amazon basin. Sao Paulo: Deforestation in the Amazon destroyed an area bigger than Spain from 2000 to 2018, wiping out eight percent of the world’s largest rainforest, according to a study released Tuesday. The Amazon plays a vital role in curbing climate change, but destruction of the rainforest has only accelerated in recent…
