How To Stop Letting The Little Things Break You?
I think look from martial arts we can learn a lot of things. The first thing I think we can learn is how to be anti fragile as Nassim Taleb talks about in his book Antifragile. So many people in life are so worried. They're so concerned that every little thing is going to disrupt their perfect ecosphere. So many people are really set back by the slightest things in life. Anything can throw you off balance. Try to be on the mats for two hours straight with people that are trying to choke you out and take the air out of your trachea and you will quickly realize that the things in life, all those things that are happening in life, really matter this much in comparison to the big picture. So the first thing is it teaches you how to be anti fragile. You realize that you're tougher than you think.
What is The True Meaning of Freedom?
My definition of freedom hasn't changed since I was 15. Right. And that's to be able to do what I want, when I want, with who I want, how I want. That's freedom. Money is great like, money's fantastic. I love mining, I love getting it, I love spending it. Anybody who says money's the root of all evil, never had any. Anybody that says money can't buy you happiness, doesn't know where to shop. Money is fantastic but for me, success is something greater than that. And I tell this to people oftentimes that time is the new luxury. That's why when people look at a man like Jeff Bezos, you look at a guy, the founder of Amazon, now one of the richest men in the world.Â
People think oh man, he's got millions of dollars. He's going to be a trillionaire soon. That's crazy. I'm like, you're missing the point. This guy, forget about his personal wealth, he's made billions and billions more for other people. He's created more millionaires and billionaires than anybody else in the last 50 years by allowing people to sell products on the Amazon platform by creating the world's biggest e-commerce platform.Â
So that's what people are that's what people are missing about people like that and I just am grateful if I can have a certain amount of impact that put a dent in the universe and get people out of the doldrum day-to-day tick-tock existences that people feel like they're stuck in. Most people feel like they're on a hamster wheel. They feel like, you know, they wake up, they go to work, they come home, the wife's there the kids are there, the maybe they have a little bit of time with the family, then they sleep.Â
They wake up and they repeat it again. You ask them what's it all for man? What are you doing all this? For what's the point of it? And they ask people that, ask people about that and you'll see I mean I'm sure in your profession, you know, you're a coach. You must have this conversation a lot but when you talk to people about that kind of thing, you realize that people have never thought about it. They're just doing it because it's the thing to do.Â
Somebody told them that's what you do and they do it and one day they wake up, they're 65, they're fat, the wife's fat, the kids are fat. They're living a miserable life and they're thinking to themselves how did I get here but then it's too late. Okay, that was fun. If you liked what you saw, make sure to subscribe and like below. Should You Be Friends With Your Employees?
So we've got um a lot of people who uh make great leaders but are not great managers and a lot of people that are great managers that are not great people. I think I could tell you the biggest mistake and this is like the biggest tell that somebody is an amateur manager, is when they try to be friends with their employees. That's like the kiss of death. When you know, we in back you know, I invented the Vapir vaporizer, the forerunner of all digital vaporization technology, all the vapes that you see and I remember we had hired a guy who's a super nice guy and this guy comes in first day and I'm just watching him and he did great in the interviews and then I'm watching him with the employees and he's just trying to make nice with everybody and I'm like okay, well, that's cool.Â
It's his first day and then by day two, he's like really trying to be friends. He's like buying him coffee and like you know, doing that stuff and I was like, man, I can time this one on my watch. This is not going to go well and sure enough he imploded and we had to get another guy but you can always tell because one of the things I you know, I tell people now that are in management positions is that you are not going to gain respect of your employees by them being your friends. They will, it will actually have the opposite effect, right?Â
They don't necessarily need to fear you, although in some cases that's not really a bad thing as long as it's not unreasonable fear. But they need to respect you and there's a big difference and they will appreciate you more if they respect you and that's what we teach. But it's a really easy way to catch a new manager and  one that's you know, one that's experienced is the one that's experienced will get in head down to the nose. He'll be reasonable, he'll be fair, he'll be compassionate, you know, he'll go out of his way to hear the employees, but by no means this dude having a tequila with them after work.
Push And Pull Marketing Strategy - Which One Suits You Better?
Here's the thing about story, right? You never know when that's going to have a ripple effect. You never know when you're going to plant the seed in somebody else's head. I get messages all the time, hey listen, I saw you or you posted this thing, I don't know months ago and it really resonated and now I'm doing business and that. And I'm not saying you know, we're like we're the only catalyst, but when you put your story out there, through such a powerful vehicle like conversation, it's you don't know how far that's going to make it.Â
You don't know how far the ripple effects are going to go and the impact that we're going to have, you know ghosts and I mean, I agree and hell that that's why I just did a podcast this morning with one of my idols when it comes to to business development. And it wouldn't be possible if the power of conversation wasn't there. So, who's your idol? Gina Wickman. He's one of the people that I looked up to when I was first starting the business, learning about processes and systems and and just had him on the podcast. He wrote Traction, Â couple of books. Yeah, so super cool guy. But I mean it comes to show, right?Â
Power of story. That's what we did. We went through his background. How he got started and it opens a lot of doors. It opens a lot of just for you know, for the sake of having a structured type of conversation. There's an intention behind it. There's a purpose behind it. So yeah, I mean there's seven million podcasts out there. I think there should be another seven million or seven million podcasts out there because it's definitely you know, one of the best ways. One - getting seeds planted when it comes to that mindset and then two - just opening up your you're breaking your paradigms, just opening up your perspective on things that you know, we're just often just not aware you know, things that we can that are possible. Yeah, it kind of goes back to what we're talking about the difference between push marketing and pull marketing. The difference becoming a decision architect. I love that term by the way. Yeah.Â
Push marketing being hey, you want to buy my thing? You want to buy me here my thing? It's so great. It goes so fast and it's so shiny and it's the best quality and you won't be disappointed. No one believes you. Yeah, it's been done. Bull marketing is man, let me tell you a story about this thing that I bought once. And it was so amazing and it changed my life by doing this that and the other. And people will go where do I get that and they think it's their idea. Well, I think some of the magic when it comes to pull marketing is that it's I mean it's led through, you lead with value. When you're doing that kind of stuff, you're leading with value. And for example, you dropping in the access to the training, right? That's that is it's going to get people to you know, to it's going to get you eyeballs but you're leading with value. You're planting a a seed of growth there and I think that's what's so amazing about that kind of stuff.
