A grin splayed across Toad’s face, entertained. Sabertooth usually just snarled when he was feeling cheeky; this girl was something different. He feigned offense at her words, hand splaying across his collar bone as webbed fingers spread before she lunged, eyes narrowing as he acted on instinct burned into his mind and body through years of abuse, training, and experience.
He forgot the girl was there- forgot that this woman was just trying to protect her own. All he saw was her quick motions, his muscular frame moving in response, dropping his stance to bent knees, lowered and jerking his frame upwards using the strength of his legs as she moved closer. Hand rising to catch just below her jaw, coming from below as she moved forwards to avoid her fangs- aiming to grasp her throat, squeeze, but nothing more than to restrain the woman. Maybe he’d miscalculate, maybe he’d accidentally end up mushing his palm into her fangs- but from what he could see, he was fairly confident in his actions.
She was caught off guard, surprisingly, by his quick reaction. Normally she was quicker than her targets. The fact that he was quicker was unnerving. It made him even more of a threat than she’d previously thought, she’d have to keep an eye on him. It connected, painfully, nearly causing her to bite her tongue. She didn’t fight in his grip. No need to frighten her daughter more. Or give him a reason to attack her.
“Leave Karin out of this. Attack me all you like, but leave her out of this.”
