"Looking to Remember" by Sparkling Wide Pressure
MG:
Today, in beautiful Chicago, Illinois, it's pan grey and constantly sprinkling but refusing to rain. It's chilly, but not cold. There's a breeze, but it's not windy. This is the agony of Chicago. I'm fully occupying that headspace, totally unable to commit to a quaking lovesong, a sonic pop blast, or an art-rock piece fraying at the edges of dissonance. "Looking to Remember" is an ambient track that mixes in some acoustic percussion and guitar for a rangy but urban feel. It's the rust on the train tracks. It's the wooden platform, bloated and soggy with persistent drizzle. It buzzes and pulses in the direction of something, but it never gets there. Ultimately, this song is the journey, not the destination. It's seven and a half minutes of middle distance running.
