The young boy felt a panic stir in his gut when he felt Alluka move in his arms. He looked down, chocolate eyes widening when he realised that she was waking up and he’d have to greet her as someone other than the Gon she knew…
He cleared his throat, as if trying to change the pitch of his voice so she’d have a harder time recognising him before he spoke. “M-Mn! That’s me- woah!” Gon stumbled a bit, though careful not to drop Alluka as she frantically looked around, before he offered a sheepish smile beneath the mask.
“It’s OK, they’ve gone now – they’re tied up in a building over there, and the police are on their way to make an arrest. You’re not hurt or anything, are you?” Gon asked with a clear lilt of concern. He got her out of the immediate danger sure, but there was always a risk in these situations (and Killua would go berserk if his sister got hurt).
“Eheheh, it’s OK! That’s what I’m here for!” Gon beamed with a smile, before gently letting Alluka down so she could stand by herself. “It can be a little dangerous around here, why don’t I walk you home?” Again - it was risky to escort her home and give her more opportunity to identify him, but it’d be even worse to leave her on her own after having to go through something so scary.
