Oops!
Your character walking in on mine waking from a nightmare.
Sherlock still had nightmares, and quite often. He'd been tortured enough, beaten enough, psychologically tormented enough that there were many, many things which could quicken his pulse and make him terrified in secret. And even when he fell asleep on his guard, in a slightly more public place (accidentally, of course, he wasn't given to falling asleep on the sofas in an office lobby), they came and whispered at him.
This time, it was knives. Knives and perfume, Evey Malone. Cutting into him with a poison-covered knife, feeding his little girl a cupcake that would nearly kill her. Singsong. Pain. So when he heard his name from the person outside of his dream, he jolted awake with a start, looking around in fear for the torturess that was only in his mind. "Um. Yes, I--didn't mean to doze off."
