so um, what if loumand listen to lestat’s failures album together? my wild speculation i got maybe unwisely attached to based on some review spoilers (under the cut cause potentially spoilers?):
Armand looks up at him from the floor, like Louis’ words had bypassed his higher brain function.
“Louis, that’s not fair. You can’t do this to me if you don’t mean it.” His voice is flat, like he’s feeling too much to express any of it, and it makes Louis’ heart try to crawl up his throat. An impossible combination of fear and affection for this half-feral shell of a boy.
“I’ll tell you what’s not fair. It’s not fair if you shatter all the glassware in my house cause you never fuckin’ learned to self-regulate for shit.”
Armand squeezed his eyes shut, expression rippling under the eyepatch, mouth pinching like he’s in physical pain.
Louis’ grown as a person, trying to actually deal with Lestat the last year. He doesn’t bait Armand even though a sizable portion of him wants a fight, especially a fight he’ll probably lose. It would feel better than this helplessness—probably, at least in the moment. But it would be worse after.
“I do mean it. Probably not how you want, but I invited you into my house. That’s not nothing.” Louis kneels before Armand and very carefully strokes his hair.
Armand fixes Louis with all of his unnerving focus channeled into his one good eye. “I tried so hard to love you.”
