I get u, Amélie, I really do
Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain (2001) by Jean-Pierre Jeunet
hey eila sweetheart! i've been planning to rewatch amélie soon and if you don't mind, i was wondering if you could share your favourite bits from it? <3
hi rue !!! i am so glad u asked bc a few days after i read this i got to rewatch amelie on my flight! i was so happy and made notes of my fav parts LOL most of them were quotes and gif sets i've already collected on my blog, i've compiled them below - with the addition of couple other quotes that i liked and noted upon my recent rewatch - and hope u enjoy rewatching amelie too <333
^ umm this scene is so so dear to me !!!!!!!
i just love hipolito's quote and the way it sounds in english and french (also when it's shown at the end too it's such a happy and satisfying moment)
i love the special effects of amelie's anatomical heart beat racing as she runs into nino for a second time! to me i feel like her first time running into him isn't love at first sight but more of an intuitive pull and interest in this guy picking behind/underneath the photobooth. and the second time isn't either, but the curiosity she has in him has grown significantly (crush era)
special effects #2 that i really really appreciate and enjoy bc i've definitely felt this emotion 1000000 times before too
on my rewatch i rly rly loved dufayel's monalogue in this scene and almost cried 😭😭😭 also i love the pacing of this scene as it picks up as amelie's courage picks up and she races to the window and then to the door to which she opens and finds nino who is already there
(i also teared up at a previous scene where amelie is watching tv and the people in it say "If amelie chooses to live in a dream and remain an introverted young woman she has an absolute right to mess up her life!" and it cuts to amelie who sighs and closes her eyes)
and of course i love the kiss scene and the bike scene <333
AMÉLIE HAS A STRANGE FEELING OF ABSOLUTE HARMONY. IT’S A PERFECT MOMENT; SOFT LIGHT... A SCENT IN THE AIR... THE QUIET MURMUR OF THE CITY. SHE BREATHES DEEPLY. LIFE IS SIMPLE AND CLEAR. A SURGE OF LOVE, AN URGE TO HELP MANKIND, COMES OVER HER.
