My Knitting Opinions
As someone who has done both the Continental and the American/English style of knitting I'd like to state my opinions about each.
In reference to just learning, the American/English style is easier, as you're just throwing the yarn over in a very specific way. The Continental method is taking me a little longer to learn.
However
The Continental method, after getting a better grasp of it (I'm not a professional yet), I can already tell my speed is progressing a Lot more than when I just started learning how to knit. While this may be due to the initial learning curve vs. me knowing more about knitting now, I do feel like in the end I'll be faster for having learned this method.
And
The stitches are a lot more clear using the Continental method of working the yarn. Like, you can tell the difference between a Purl and a Knit stitch American/English style, but it's much more clear doing the continental method. Also the stitches seem more secure (although I can't 100% verify that as again I am not an expert).
Again, those are just my thoughts
