American playwright Avery Hopwood with dancer Rosa Rolanda, 1924. This was part of an engagement announcement that was later revealed to be a publicity stunt.

Hopwood was a prominent Broadway playwright in the early 20th century. His claim to fame was having four plays running simultaneously in 1920. He was also an occasional collaborator with Mary Roberts Rinehart, known for being a writer of murder mysteries. Together, their most successful play was The Bat (1920).

Notes: MP4 format. Filmed from side front mezzanine. Mix of wide shots and zooms. Debut night for the new cast! Unfortunately the worst of my Oh, Mary recordings as of release, though the others were all almost flawless. Due to the head in front of me, I struggled to get anything on the extreme right (aka bookcase) side of the stage. This especially includes the “Great Day” monologue. Semi-periodic dropouts due to camera shakes and the camera at time deciding the hair of the guy in front of me was more interesting than the stage. Includes partial bows. NFS forever except through master and NFT through September 24, 2030.
