The north-side Pueblo is said to be one of the most photographed and painted buildings in North America. It is the largest multistoried Pueblo structure still existing. It is made of adobe walls that are often several feet thick. Its primary purpose was for defense. Up to as late as 1900, access to the rooms on lower floors was by ladders on the outside to the roof, and then down an inside ladder. On this day in Black History - Feb. 27th: Charlotte E. Ray graduated from the Howard University School of Law in 1872 and was admitted to the District of Columbia bar that same year, becoming the first female African-American lawyer in the United States. She was admitted to Howard under the name C.E. Ray disguising her identity as a female. Active in the suffrage movement, Ray was a member the National Association of Colored Women. On this day in Black History - Feb. 26th: In 2015, the world said good by to Earl Francis Lloyd, the first African-American to play in the NBA. Earl played with the Washington Capitols against the Rochester Royals in October of 1950. After serving briefly in the Korean War, Lloyd returned to basketball and then on to coaching. In his spare time, Lloyd also ran programs where he taught job skills to underprivileged. Even with his recent passing, he is still viewed as a trailblazer for African Americans in sports. #BlackHistoryMonth #AmericasHistory #BHM

On this day in Black History - Feb. 25th: In 1947, Lee Edward Evans was born in Madera, California. He ran track all through high school and in 1968 he became an Olympian, winning gold in both the 400m dash and the 4x400 relay. He still stands as the 10th best performer in history for the 400m dash. He received his medal wearing a beret in honor of the Black Panther Party. Following his Olympic success, Evans continued to run and eventually settled into coaching. When he finishes coaching, Evans hopes to move to either Mexico or Africa. #BlackHistoryMonth #AmericasHistory #BHM
