They hadn’t seen each other since their argument, so... he wasn’t sure where their relationship stood after such a heated, loaded shouting match. “I-I haven’t seen you in a while. Um... Are you doing well?” Ludger was trying to be extra careful with his words, though it made talking difficult. “I’m okay myself. I-I didn’t follow up on what my note said. Sorry if it scared you.”

Biblioclasm: Is there something about themselves they wish fewer people knew about?

If there’s anything Star wish people didn’t know about how is, it has to be his various, various issues. Star knows he put his Nii-san through so much pain thanks to his behavior the couple months after the incident in Marksburg, and he thinks that if people learn about them, the cycle will repeat again– and these friends of his aren’t like Nii-san. They’ll give up on him and he doesn’t want to be alone, no matter how much he believes he deserves to spend his time confined in his room with Nii-san checked up on him every so often.  

And for those who do already know, Star wishes he could make them forget about it. Then his friends wouldn’t act like they’re always walking on thin ice when talking to him. They don’t deserve that, even if they’re doing it to try and avoid hurting his fragile feelings. People like Atsuro or Alice are prime examples, although Atsuro is far more careful with his words.

Dear Diary-san,

Alice told me she was a Chain today. I’m not sure what those are, but I’m guessing they are similar to demons since they are stronger than humans and, unlike spirits, can maintain themselves without a substance like mana. And when I bring up demons, I do kind of wonder if Chains are like how Kazuya is: he has a human body with all the organs and such humans do, however he doesn’t entirely need them to live and if they die, they come back after a couple days. 

Part of me wants to ask Alice about that… I’m just not brave enough. Like, how am I supposed to ask her if she knows if her body is composed exactly as a human’s body is? She can’t rip open her stomach and check (and I think I would faint if I saw her do that right in front of me), so how could she answer my question at all? 

I guess I could ask her if she knows anyone who is an ‘expert’ on Chains so I could ask them if they know what a Chain’s body is composed of and what body parts, organs, bones, muscles, all the stuff humans are made off  they share with humans. The problem is that plan relies too much on there being a person like that who exists and if they’d make time for me. They could be royalty and why would they want to talk to an ordinary guy like me? 

I’ll have to settle with never knowing.
