ofstarsandskiesâ:
âThe lab tries to minimize subjects and personnel becoming sick, so keeping rooms a comfortable temperature year-round is high priority.â Subjects especiallyâ all treatment would have to be done in-house by the very few doctors the lab employed. God forbid a subject catch a disease only a specialty doctor could treatâŚÂ
Backpedaling a moment ago, the way Atsuro hesitated once he heard the date caught Ludgerâs attention, along with how fast Atsuro latched onto the next topic. It wasnât like Ludger to be blunt, butâŚÂ âDoes todayâs date mean something to you? Is it a friendâs birthday or someone you knowâs anniversary?â Ludger still asked.
âYeah makes senseâ he mumbled. After all not like they would want anyone here to get sick enough that they would need to be sent out to a hospital or have a specialty doctor come in to treat them.
Darn seems Ludger went back to the topic about the today date. Time to get him off it again...if he could. In the almost year heâs been here he knows Ludger can be just as stubborn as him on certain subjects.
âItâs not an anniversary or anything like that. It umm is a birthday tho....but it isnât a friends birthday. One of their birthdays were back in April and the others isnât till about two months from now.â
ofstarsandskiesâ:
âGood morning, White-san. I hope last night treated you well.â Or at least, as well as it could considering Atsuroâs situation. Ludger set those dark thoughts aside to hand Atsuro a warm plate of tomato omelettes. The dish practically made itself as his mind wandered to how his brother was doing.Â
Before he took a bite, Atsuro had a question for him: whatâs todayâs date. âLet me checkâŚâ Ludger skimmed through the pages of his checklist for a date. The days tend to blur for Ludger too, most of them consisting of work or staying home. âItâs June 11th. Not too long before summer officially beginsâ Iâm not looking forward to the warmer weather myself.â A shut-in like himself relied heavily on a working AC to make it through summer heat.Â
Atsuro went to take a bite of his omelette but stopped once he heard the date.  âJune 11th....I seeâ he mumbled softly before he started eating. Two more months heâll have officially been stuck here an entire year. He couldnât believe that much time had passed. If anything it also made him realize that if someone had filed a report on him missing there was no way it was still open now.
Still long as he wasnât stuck here for twenty more years he wouldnât be declared dead yet.
Still of all the days to ask for the date it was on his birthday. Well not like he would have done anything for it anyway minus maybe hanging out with Kazuya and Yuzu. Anyway it was best to just forget about his birthday and focus on a different topic for the time being. Not like Ludger could do anything for it.
âWell...least there is AC in here. Then again I guess they regulate the temperature in this place pretty well. I didnât even know winter had come and gone.â
ofstarsandskiesâ:
âI wonât get in trouble. The lab is not liable for any personal injuries, so itâs up to my digression how much faith to show my patients.â Which in Ludgerâs case tend to be âtoo muchâ. It was a mistake that almost cost him his life once, but the lesson didnât stick for long. Seeing his patientsâ faces and talking to them, Ludger couldnât detach his emotions. Â
Like now, when Atsuro questioned his brotherâs want to cooperate. âNii-san will tell the truth.â Ludger strongly objected. âNii-san only keeps secrets when heâs protecting someone. With what I know now, he doesnât need to protect me from Spirius anymore.â Besides him living apart from Ludger; allegations of him being a possible accomplice still hung in the air, and hiding his criminal brother would only boost those suspicions. In every other case, Ludger wanted to believe in his brother. Or rather, he wanted Julius to stop lying to him. He wasnât a child anymore.Â
Giving himself a moment to stew, Ludger checked the time. About an hour before he tend to spend the rest of his shift submitting his daily findings. Atsuro didnât like being alone, but⌠itâd be okay this one timeâŚ? âItâs a bit earlier than I usually leave, but I think itâs best I take off now and submit my report to the Director. Iâll send a message to Nii-san the minute I get home.â Grabbing the dishes and his clipboard, the assistant bowed as he scanned his card to leave the room. Time to finish up quick and pray Julius responded tonight.Â
âŚ..Â
âIâve got good news!â Ludger said before heâd barely stepped into the room, Juliusâ letter in-hand. âMy brother got back to me last night! He apologized for keeping secrets from me and I wrote down his answers word-for-word.âÂ
Hello, Atsuro. You already know who I am, so Iâll skip introductions and get to the point.Â
Spirius has cameras installed both at the entrance and in key areas of the building. Between them and the covert security guards patrolling the floors, Iâd recommend against any type of physical assault. As for getting into the data archives, youâll have to somehow compromise an employeeâs work PC and use their IDs to make any headway. Iâve been wiped from the system long ago, nor do I know if theyâve taken additional measures to lock everything down. I can possibly help you crack the encryption once you get an in; I still have the encryption keys if they havenât changed the algorithm.Â
Spiriusâ building was within the Yamanote Circle, so anyone in the building that morning has first-hand experience with angels and demons. Some of the survivors, including me and President Bakur, were also Demon Tamers. If youâre worried Spirius may want the DSP though, donât beâ Spiriusâ functioning fine as is, and Bakur wouldnât risk rocking a working boat.Â
I hope Iâve provided the answers you were looking for. All I ask in return is you avoid doing anything which might endanger my brother. Heâs been through enough already.Â
If you have further questions, you can ask Ludger to send them my way again. Good luck.
Julius
âWas that what you were looking for?â Ludger wouldnât know, having no involvement with either subject matter.Â
Atsuro just took the letter from Ludger and began reading it. Sadly lots of the stuff he was hoping to get from Julius wasnât what he wanted to hear but, then again it would have been dumb luck if Julius was still in the system. Also looks like Julius was just as protective as he thought.
âIt sort of was but, I was hoping better news. I was secretly hoping Julius would be my key to access Spiriusâs system easily but seems that wonât be an option. It was dumb of me though for hoping that Julius would still be in the Spirius system. After all what company would keep a wanted man in their system.â
Atsuro just laid back down on his bed and looked up at the ceiling waiting for Ludger to come in for the day. He had lost track of how long he had been stuck in this prison for. He remembered it was only a couple weeks after the lockdown ended but, God knows how long ago that was since again...he lost track. On the one wall there was some marks to help him keep track of the days but, he lost his pen when he tried to use it to stab one of the lab assistants. Â
After a bit he heard the door open and saw Ludger walk in with some breakfast for him.  âMorning Ludger...umm can I ask you a question? What is the date today?â

loyal-nerdlingerâ:
Asturo just nodded a bit when Ludger said it would be better for him to ask Julius about Spirius and Bisley information. Plus the older boy was right about one thing and that was Julius was probably not gonna keep secrets for a company that branded him a terrorist. Â
Also from that one little detail Ludger dropped it sounded like Julius did some programming work. If so then there was defiantly a good chance Julius could give them a lot of good information about the inner-workings of Spiriusâs network.
âIt should be fine. No matter what going after someone like Bisley is probably gonna be going into some kind of hell.â He wasnât gonna lie to Ludger about that since there was no guarantee that going after Bisley wasnât gonna dangerous. Still for now it was best to see if he could even get into Spirius network to dig around for information.Â
Though there was one other problem as well. Atsuro was very doubtful that he would be aloud to even touch a laptop. Most he could maybe do was watch over Ludgerâs shoulder and tell him what to do.
ââŚSaying that only makes me more concerned, you know.â But heâd commend Atsuroâs honesty despite knowing itâd weaken his case. Fighting against an opponent who already stacked the deck in his favor naturally came with some level of dangerâ Ludger wasnât so naive heâd believe the contrary. âStill, Iâm curious what more my brother knows about Bisley, so Iâll ask him anyway.â Itâd be nice if Atsuro could ask the questions he wanted to his brother directly than play telephone through Ludger. That line of thought did spark an ideaâŚ
âOh, I have an idea. Give me once second,â Ludger grabbed his check board and flipped through for a blank page heâd move to the front. âIf youâve got any techy questions, write them down for me. He might understand your questions better if you phrase them than if a layman like me tries to translate.â
âWell would you rather I lie to you about it? Cause not like you would believe me if I said it wonât be dangerous at all.â Atsuro knew Ludger wasnt dumb enough to believe there wasnât gonna be any kind of danger so, there really wouldnât be any point in lying to him.
Ludger then handed him his clipboard and a pen to write down any questions he might have for Julius. It was a good idea seeing as it would be hard to relay the info in laymans terms.  âIâll write them down quickly since not sure how much trouble youâd be in if you give me a pen.â After all he could try and stab Ludger with said pen.
Atsuro quickly wrote down a couple questions for Julius being along the lines of what is Spirius security system like, how hard would it be to get past firewalls and also into locked files, would it be possible to get into Spirius system with Juliusâs ID still, how much dose Spirius know on demons and angels, is there any chance Bisley would also want the summoning program, and finally did Spirius ever try to contact Naoya.
âHere all done.â Atsuro handed the clipboard and pen back to Ludger.  âHopefully Julius will be cooperative enough and actually answer these questions. Your brother sounds like he likes to well....keep things to himself.âÂ
loyal-nerdlingerâ:
Atsuro let out a small sigh hearing Ludger wasnât upset at the joke he made. After all it was still probably a sensitive subject and was going to be for a while. Ludger also seemed happy to talk about Julius and told him about how Julius promised that Ludger and him would live together one day and, how that happened once Julius turned 18. Â
It looked liked talking about Julius had really cheered Ludger up and the older boy asked if he had any other questions about his older brother.
âUmm okay.â Atsuro thought about it for a couple seconds before asking Ludger another question.  âIf I remember right Julius works for Spirius right? Do you know exactly what his job was while working there?â If he was lucky maybe Julius did something with computers. If that was the case then maybe they could use Juliusâs work info to get into Spirius and find something on Bisley. Though even if he did any bet by now Juliusâs work ID and login was probably deleted and taken out of the system by now.
âHe did. I remember Nii-san got me a really big gift for my 15th birthday because he started working there.â And he meant bigâ that cat doll was about 3 feet tall and lying on his bed right now. It was something to hug âI canât really tell you what he did at Spirius, though. He said he wasnât allowed to talk about work outside the office. But I think I heard him ranting about âprimary keysâ and âforeign keysâ once.â What those words meant, Ludger had no idea. And once his brother saw him in the doorway, he pretended as if he said nothing.Â
But what he did realize is what Atsuro might be planning based on this random curiosity. If his brother had an in, digging through the companyâs internal history could help dig up dirt a public search couldnât reach. Whether or not this âinâ still existed⌠only his brother had the answer. Though if Bisley went through such lengths to bury Juliusâ image, whatever his brother knew was likely incriminating.Â
âIf youâre planning to do what I think you are, it might be better if I try asking my brother about Spirius and Bisley when I go home tonight. I doubt heâs going to keep secrets for a company thatâs calling him a terrorist.â And there was no point in hiding them to keep Ludger from knowing who he was anymore too.Â
âBut! You have to promise me youâre not going to do anything that puts your life at risk first. I donât want you going from one hell to another if you do somehow leave here.â
Asturo just nodded a bit when Ludger said it would be better for him to ask Julius about Spirius and Bisley information. Plus the older boy was right about one thing and that was Julius was probably not gonna keep secrets for a company that branded him a terrorist. Â

âYou got me there,â Despite the dark subject matter, Ludger cracked a smile at Atsuroâs hot take. Making a joke of his two radical identities helped scale back their magnitude. âEven Iâm not sure which is a worse image for me: titan of Japan Bisley Bakurâs secret bastard son or high-profile terrorist Julius Will Kresnikâs younger brother.âÂ
Speaking of his brother, Atsuro quickly moved on to ask about him. Ludger avoided talking about his brother ever since the terrorists allegations; while he believed in his brotherâs innocence, Japanese society unanimously sided with the well-respected business owner. Though since Atsuro learned of their story through Remiel, Ludger didnât see a point in keeping his brother secret anymore.Â
Also it made a good excuse to gush over his big brother after months of keeping it to himself.Â
âWhen you think of a typical older brother, thatâs Nii-san. He treated all the younger kids at the orphanage like his little brothers and sisters, but he spoiled me most. I can still remember the day Nii-san promised me weâd go live in a nice house when he got olderâ mostly because I cried the entire next day when he went out to go find a job.â Ludger laughed at his own ridiculousness, distinctly remembering his crying made a few of his friends think Julius left the orphanage forever. He refused to stop until Julius came home.Â
âOnce Nii-san turned 18, he used the money he saved up to buy an apartment and adopt me; I was officially now Ludger Will Kresnik. Thatâs why I want to be thought of as just Ludger Will Kresnik. Itâs the name Nii-san gave me.âÂ
Rambling about his brother brought back Ludgerâs cheer, his dark thoughts overrided by fond memories of the man who first showed him love. Heâd like to continue, if Atsuro indulged him. âAny other question you got about my brother? I miss talking about him, so Iâm still open to anything.â

ofstarsandskiesâ:
So Remiel hadnât said anything⌠In this instance, no news was likely âgood newsâ by proxy that their talk didnât mean stepping on the toes of God. And truthfully, it stopped Ludger from getting too incessant with questions to learn more about his forgotten past and his âfatherâ. Heâd no doubt hate the answers and most likely lash out again as a result.Â
âI donât think it matters either wayâ Remiel-san wouldnât be the first person to watch us.â Ludger nudged his arm towards the security camera in the corner. He ought to pay the office a visit before coming back, but all the weird, almost terrified stares he got just walking down the hall made him inclined to stay the course without taking detours. And the food would get cold.Â
Thinking about all those eyes on him had Ludger trying to rub at his arms, only to be met with rough bandages instead of soft skin. A bad habit he ought to try and break before he got a rash from scraping the bandages against himself repeatedly. âI donât mean to drudge up a bad topic, but⌠did you mean it when you said you still see me as Ludger Will Kresnik and nothing else? I wouldnât blame you if you look at me differently.â Although heâd hope his friend wouldnât treat him as if he suddenly elevated in importance because of his fatherâs legendary status.Â
Though seconds after asking that question, Ludger regretted running his mouth. Atsuro had already said he saw him as âLudgerâ and not âBisleyâs secret sonâ, and now he was asking his friend to repeat himself to confirm he really meant that. It was definitely a slap to the face, putting it generously. âS-Sorry, I donât mean to sound as if Iâm doubting you. I just⌠want to be sure somebody other than my brother wonât look at me differently because of what I am.â
âAh yeah...youâre rightâ Atsuro just looked up at the camera for a second before looking away from it. He had been in this room long enough he had forgotten that there was a camera up in the corner. Though if he wanted to be honest the angels watching was probably scarier than whoever was in this lab.
Atsuro went to take on the bowls of soup that Ludger had brought back with him when the older boy asked if he really did mean what he had said earlier. Â
âUmm of course I meant it. I mean Iâve only known you as Ludger Will Kresnik so to me youâll always be Ludger Will Kresnik not Ludger Bakur.  Though Iâm guessing your asking cause words already out huh?â It wouldnât surprise him that everyone in this building already had heard that Ludger was Bisleyâs son.  âHmm I guess at this point Iâm not sure if youâd prefer people to look at you as the son of the most powerful man Tokyo or, the brother of a terrorist.â Â
Atsuro just shook his head a bit after saying that.  âSorry that was probably pretty insensitive of me to say. Just remember... you are Ludger Will Kresnik nothing more and nothing less. Donât let what other people say bother you.â Though that would probably be easier said then done so, time to get off this topic and fast.
âSo um...youâve never really talked about him....what is your brother like?â

Though a bit later than promised, Ludger came knocking on Atsuroâs door 45 minutes later, a tray with two perfectly warm bowls of soup in his hands and his keycard clenched in his teeth so he could open the door without any awkward fiddling. Once he put the tray down, Ludger spit out his card and started wiping away the saliva with his coat.
âTrying to sleep off all the bombshells, White-san?â He tried to poke a bit of fun to help lighten the rather oppressing atmosphere their earlier conversation spread. â Not that I blame youâ cooking just barely worked to settle my nerves. Although it was hard to really get into things when the few people I did pass by around the hallways either wouldnât stop staring at me or backed away when I got close.âÂ
Ludger could already guess whyâ whoever was manning the security desk when Remiel said Ludger was Bisley Bakurâs son must have immediately thought to tell the Director. Few personnel were allowed to see him directly, so this person likely had to tell their director superior and pass the news up the grapevine; someone within the chain was bound to talk. And rumors got around fairly easy in a confined space like a secret laboratory.Â
Just in case Atsuro didnât catch anything he said, Ludger gently nudged his friend to wake him up (if he were asleep). âAfter you start eating, could I ask if Remiel-san said anything to you since I left? I was wondering since we did suddenly butt him out of the conversation after what he told us about BisleyâŚâ Harder than ever not to cringe a little when saying that name. He wasnât sure how to classify their ânewâ relationship.Â
Atsuro didnât hear Ludger when he came back in as he ended up passing out when he laid down to rest his eyes. He hasnât had any real good nights sleeping since he was take here so his body finally gave out and needed sleep, so anything Ludger said was completely missed.
Atsuro just groaned a bit feeling Ludger gently shake him to wake him up. He wanted to continue sleeping but he knew that he had to eat and, Ludger did make him food so he didnât want it to go waste.
Atsuro just sat up and rubbed his eyes before taking one of the bowls of soup.  âUmmm no he didnât say anything else. I think he left though to be honest he could still be around watching for all we know.â He wondered if maybe Remial was indeed watching them to make sure no demons would be summoned.
