“What’d you mess up today, sweetheart?” James Kelly teases, walking up to you. At this point you were a regular client. It sucked that your car was almost always out of order, but you also thank your shitty car that you get to see James so often.
“The suspension.” You say, cringing slightly because this is not the first time it has messed up.
“Mm.” James nods, walking over to your car. “Well, y’know it takes a few hours to fix the suspension. You all right with spending all that time with me?”
He knew what he was doing and he wasn’t ashamed. He loved to see the way you acted like you weren’t totally blushing like you were a teenager again. He loved to see the way you’d avoid eye contact or fidget with your fingers. You thought you were playing it off so well…
It took a few hours, but he fixed up your car once again. He usually made sure you didn’t have to pay the full price, but today he let you get this done for free.
“No, no, let me pay. It’s a big thing to work on, I can’t let you—“ You try to argue but he cuts you off.
“Nah, you aren’t gonna pay. I’ll just tell the front desk lady I gave you a coupon or some shit.” James laughs. “And hey… if you wanted to see me, you could’ve just came by instead of messing up your car again.” He jokes with a playful shrug.
Yep… he definitely knew what he was doing.
