New Order Amish! :) they’re pretty stinkin great! and they are still in the lovely (and somewhat smelly) category of Amish! Holmes County is the best place for New Order Amish but it is the biggest tourist area! I hope yu find what you’re looking for

Holmes County would be perfect because I have family who live about 45 minutes from there, so it would make a move a tad bit easier, I think.

Still thinking, though. My parents are definitely irritated with the "impossible and silly idea" of becoming Amish. Sigh.

it is harder to join old order amish churches, and I would not really want to do so because of the fact that they do not believe in being born again christians and mostly stick to the old testament for their teaching.

I would think some Old Order sects would allow you to - it may be a bit more difficult, because they tend to be wary of Englishers who want to join. But I think it’s possible.

The Swartzentruber Amish are the oldest and the most strict, so they’re probably a sect that would not allow outsiders.

Of course, it would be much easier to convert to a New Order sect, for example, the Beachy Amish or any Mennonite church.

I like the Old Order sects myself, for the reason you mentioned above. :)
