I can’t believe I made this post, but enough is enough. I’m tired of haters for attacking my friend @barrellovingbishop. Tell me, what has she done? For liking Toma? A fictional character that doesn’t exists in real life? Is it a crime? Is it a sin? Please tell me.
Now before anyone says ‘supporting abuse’, WE TOMA FANS NEVER CONDONE ABUSE NOR DO WE JUSTIFY TOMA’S ACTIONS. Every Toma fan has their own reason for liking Toma, be it the thrilling route, coping with abuse, his personality, design, etc. Ok, perhaps there are a few who don’t mind the caging and everything else. However, that is no reason for anyone to attack them. Everyone has the right to like anything they want and to express their opinions and feelings. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, is it that hard to understand? Freedom of expression exists right?
It’s funny how I’m saying this as a Kent fan. Yes, Kent is my no 1 Amnesia guy. Kent is easily my most fav because he’s the least problematic and I love how he tries to learn about love. I think he has a good character development. However, it doesn’t mean I’m not aware of his flaws and mistakes. Kent did hurt heroine’s feelings when her dog died. Kent’s math problems may be a turn off for some people. Kent’s date was probably the most boring one. I understand why fans dislike Kent and I believe it’s just a matter of taste and opinion.
Toma is my sec most fav, he’s special because he’s the first yandere I ever like. Just like Kent, I am aware of Toma’s flaws and mistakes. I understand that his actions may have triggered some people, I agree that he did bad things. So why do I like Toma? Because he has a reason for his actions, to protect heroine. Yes I know caging and drugging are not the right things. Toma himself knows his own actions are bad, he is aware of it. Toma never takes advantage of heroine having amnesia despite his feelings (until he finally snapped). Do I justify his actions? No.
None of the Amnesia guy is exactly innocent. Amnesia otome is not supposed to be the cute and fluffy type of romance game. I’ve seen Toma fans argue both the good and bad sides of each character and I do agree. I think it’s important for people to not just blindly accept everything that a character does, but instead look at both positive and negative. IMO, a character with flaws is more interesting than a perfect character who can do no wrong. Ofc everyone can support their favs, but it doesn’t mean everyone has to like them. Again, freedom of expression.
Every time I go through ‘Toma’ tag, most are hate posts. It’s tiring ok? How would you feel if you are looking through posts about your fav and all you see is hate, hate and hate? Not nice right? Ofc ignoring is a way, but sadly some people are cross-tagging so it’s hard to find good posts. Yes, I’ve seen people tag their hate posts as ‘Toma’, which I can understand because it is about Toma. Like I said, everyone has the right to express their feelings without feeling guilty. However, just as a suggestion, I think it’s better to include ‘anti’ so fans can avoid it. I suppose tagging it as ‘anti-toma’ isn’t a hard thing to do.
I fully believe that everyone can like or dislike a character or thing. It’s your choice and you have the right to stick to your belief. Nobody, I repeat, NOBODY has the right to force you to change your mindset.

You like Ikki? Cool. You hate Ikki? Also cool.
You like Kent? Cool. You hate Kent? Also cool.
You like Toma? Cool. You hate Toma? Also cool.
You like Ukyo? Cool. You hate Ukyo? Also cool.
You like/hate everyone except *insert character*? Also cool.
You have a different/unpopular opinion? Totally cool
You know what’s not cool? ATTACKING SOMEONE FOR LOVING A CHARACTER THAT YOU HATE. THE MOMENT YOU SEND HATE OR PURPOSELY TAUNT/MOCK/SPREAD RUMORS MEANS YOU ARE BULLYING THAT PERSON. YOU ARE HURTING THE FEELINGS OF A REAL HUMAN BEING OVER A FICTIONAL CHARACTER. If you find that cool then I’m sorry I can’t agree. It’s not funny and it will never be.
I don’t know if I make this clear enough, but I’m simply saying this because I don’t like seeing my friend getting bullied for no reason. My friend, including other Toma fans are just fangirling over Toma without causing any problem. Do you know how sad is it to feel isolated in a fandom because you like a certain character that most people hate? Do you know how sad is it to not able to have different opinion because of fear of others attacking you? Do you know how sad is it to have others mocking or accusing you for the wrong things? Do you??
