Note: I am not very far into the game so no spoilers and I apologize if there is anything incorrect! Just wanted to include my new buddies in this challenge's prompts. :)

“Oh, this is a good one,” she says and picks up a small, flat stone. She stands, and with the flick of her wrist it hops once, twice, thrice across the water next to their camp. She raises her arms in triumph and grins over at him sitting, brooding, nearby.

“You are very skilled,” Wyll tells her, admiring her form as she gazes back out over the water. Her armored vest is undone, but still hangs off her shoulders, fur lining rustling with the wind. Her boots have gone somewhere and her trouser legs rolled up so she can wade in the water. He had asked earlier why she just didn’t turn into a fish if she enjoyed the water so. Then I can’t talk to you, silly. And made adorable fish noises.

Even if he doesn’t want to talk, only sit and feel sorry for himself, she’s happy just to talk at him. About their companions, the things they’ve seen, creatures they’ve encountered—everything or nothing. Prattling on, but he doesn’t mind, not really. She’s told him before that this is the most people she’s been around in a really long time. Please let me know if I get a bit much.

“It’s a bit weird how everyone keeps treating me, to be honest,” she says as she plops down on a large rock next to him.

“What do you mean?” he asks, but he knows where this line of thought is going. Wyll has unfortunately overheard some of the rather suggestive conversations she’s had with their party. “I think they’re all flirting with me? I mean, Lae’zel was very direct and, uh, detailed about it. Shadowheart I think was going there, but then she’s so closed off that it’s hard to tell. Astarion… he says kind things, but then immediately takes them back. Either he’s a huge asshole or terrified of people.”

Wyll tries not to laugh. Yes, they were all flirting with Amoira, their druid, in their own ways. She’s proven to be a force, and kind, terrible cook, absolutely rubbish at card games, and seemingly oblivious to how people work. And he’s… made some terrible decisions for good reasons. He told her he’d take her ballroom dancing and she lit up at the idea. I’ve never been to a ball! Can’t very well do that now.

“Well?” he asks. “Are you going to entertain any of those lovely offers?”

She leans back on her hands and looks over at him, blowing a strand of orange-red hair from her face. “Do you think I’ll get any better ones?”

Now he knows she’s been flirting with him, though he’s not entirely sure if she knows that’s what she’s doing. There’s a yearning there, the desperate need to take her by the hand and learn every curve. He’s held himself back because of the secret he’d kept, but now she sees him with the horns and the ridges and everything else, and she’s still sitting there next to him when she could be entertaining much more attractive suitors.

There’s a little sigh and he realizes he didn’t answer her question. She leans forwards and shakes a bit, like a bear drying off. Stretches and in a puff of fur, like someone shaking out a rug, she’s gone. In her place is an orange tabby cat arching its back and stretching its claws. It meows at him loudly and Wyll wonders if she’s finally grown tired of how he holds himself back as she reaches forward. The tabby saunters over to him, rubs across his arm, then climbs up his back, claws digging into his padded jacket. He sighs as the cat lays across his horns, paws kneading into the side of his head.

Karlach walks by then and snickers. “What have you done now?” she asks with a knowing grin. Not waiting for an answer, she waggles her fingers, “Come on, kitten. Boys are more trouble than they’re worth.”

The tabby leaps off his head, pinpricks of claws digging a bit into his skull, and prances next to Karlach, rubbing in and around her legs. Wyll rubs at his head as they walk off and sighs again. Maybe, when all this craziness is done, he’ll do the proper thing—And what, demon? Ask to court her? Well, she hasn’t run away yet, kind of keeps hanging around. And she even said when he asked that she only saw the Blade, the inside hasn’t changed even if the outside has.

“Huh.” A thought occurs to him then. That is something a druid would know an awful lot about. A small laugh escapes and he cranes his neck to look further into the camp and catches Amoira-turned-cat lick her paw and rub it across her snout. He’ll tell her… one day.
