OKAY THAT ONE GOT ME
When I was a little kid, I read a short story in a horror collection about a group of kids who went on a field trip to a lake that was infested with parasitic moss that grew on your skin and took over your mind if you got lake water on you. By the end of the story, every kid and teacher in the group was infested except one girl, who ran off and found some park rangers to take her to safety...but as the story ended, she looked in the mirror and started desperately rubbing at a growing green spot on her cheek with a cloth they’d given her.
That one stuck with me for my whole life. What excellent horror.
