However, any points this may have earned him were lost the moment he’d called the sage ‘monster.’ He had proved himself to be every bit as childish as they come. How he’d ever managed to command any sort of force was beyond the elf.

     So when he chanced upon him bleeding on the ground, he could not help the disgust that surged up from the darkest corners of his mind. Thankfully, he managed to keep it from surfacing on his face, which remained as impassive as usual. “It seems you’ve met with some misfortune,” he said, kneeling a few feet away, just out of striking distance, in case the commander got any ideas. “I would offer my help, if you will permit it.”
