Catch up on day 10 of #findingthegray2019 (stupid ear problems 😫) — Jared’s inferior function is Introverted Feeling (Fi). This is demonstrated in his lack of emotional attachment and his ability to shrug off his own feelings. When his companion in Roswell dies, he brushes aside the feelings with the belief that allowing himself to give in to them will result in his own death. This isn’t the only time he demonstrates this belief and often finds himself conflicted between emotional attachments and what needs to be done. His main goal is and always has been to survive, so he would rather dismiss emotions and relationships in order to stay on top and stay alive. @authorerynblaire and @hmwilsonauthor (pictures from unsplash). #characterdevelopment #writingchallenge #amwritingzombies #amwriting #authorsofinstagram #authorsofig #writingcommunity #postapocalyptic #indieauthors #aspiringauthor https://www.instagram.com/p/BymINkJlXsE/?igshid=lid3tmxhgqr8
Day e of #findingthegray2019 — Shae’s cognitive weakness is extraverted feeling. Once she gets to know someone, she can warm up to them and connect to them on an emotional level, but she finds it difficult to do so on a daily. In the harsh, world they live in now, her introverted thinking often makes her judge people she doesn’t know even more, analyzing their actions and looking for the meaning behind their words. This makes it even harder for her to connect to the extraverted feeling side of things. - When it comes to debating a course of action, she finds it hard to take into consideration the emotional factor. The logical factor dictates one thing but she needs her best friend there to help her compromise between doing the rational and logical and balancing the needs of the group. She is good at identifying this weakness and when she’s failing to embrace the extroverted feeling side, but she doesn’t know how to course correct and take it into account. - She tends to swallow down her emotions so as to keep a level head and continue to do what is necessary to stay alive in their post-apocalyptic world. Though her friends realize this is just her way, it makes her come off as cold hearted to newcomers. If things get too rough and someone is breaking down emotionally, she shows that she cares by trying to fix the issue or keep it from repeating, rather than helping the person. @authorerynblaire and @hmwilsonauthor (Picture of woman by Alexander Krivitsky on unsplash) #writersofinsta #writersofinstagram #amwriting #amwritingzombies #postapocalyptic #writer #writingcommunity #writingchallenge #characterdevelopment https://www.instagram.com/p/ByRX4QylShg/?igshid=194zghu7jyn7n
I miss the old days of writing the As The World Dies trilogy online. It was a lot of fun posting mini-chapters and getting immediate feedback from the readership. There was something very dynamic about the process, and it kept me writing even when life got difficult and it was harder to find time to post. I honestly don’t believe As The World Dies would have evolved into a three book trilogy if not for the encouragement of the original readers.
A few years ago I tried to write another serial. This time I used Kindle to upload each episode, which were much longer than the mini-chapters, but it wasn’t the same. Though there was a core of die-hard readers, it wasn’t the interactive experience I had hoped for.
I’ve had a serial idea bouncing around in my head for some time, and I’d been searching for the proper platform to release it on. There were two criteria 1) I could make royalties off the serial 2) it would allow reader interaction. I just couldn’t find one that fit.
Though I’ve been trying to grow my patronage via Patreon for a while, I struggle with promoting it. I don’t want people to think I’m being greedy for money. I legitimately need help right now because my finances were adversely affected by my illness. After a very long discussion with my husband about how to grow my Patreon base, I realized that this was an opportunity to do a serial again and also raise funds for my self-publishing endeavors.
About a year ago, Stant Litore suggested I write an exclusive serial for Patreon. At the time I was still very ill, and the idea was daunting. But now that I’m doing much better, I realize Patreon fulfills my two criteria.
Therefore, I’m going to be writing a weekly serial set in the same world as ‘The Necromancer’ from Zombie Tales From Dead Worlds. It’s a post-apocalyptic setting with a fantasy twist. The zombies are supernatural and an order of necromancers are humankind’s only hope.
For $1 a month, you’ll get access to all the weekly installments!
The first installment will go live within the next week or so.
