I’ll probably post better pictures whenever I manage to figure out how to shoot them in the two feet of space between my desk and my bookshelf. For now it’s just this.

Hi all, here is a picture taken at the cultural center in Hong Kong. What are you reading this weekend? I'm reading The Way of Kings and listening to Twilight Territory. Twilight Territory is an interesting story set in the World War II and Cold War eras in Vietnam.
"It would be easier to forget you," he says to me, "and these past few weeks we've had together. It would be easier if I could hate you. But the sad truth is, I will more than likely love you for the rest of my life."

The Alcazar is the sequel to The Cerulean, and picks up shortly after the first book. Sera, Leo, and Agnes have fled Kaolin and are making their way to Pelago where the mysterious island Braxos and the tether awaits.
Like it's predecessor, this book is a fairly easy and engaging read. It's not super fast paced and it's not slow, but it's interesting enough to keep you going all the way to the end. I actually feel we don't get to spend as much time with the characters in the sense that they grow and develop, but I would have really liked to see more of it. Everything is also a little too easy.
The best part is actually what's going on in the City Above the Sky, the secrets that Leela is discovering. I enjoyed her parts for more than anyone else's even though I really liked all the characters. The two villains, although that's not the best term for them since I don't see them as particularly villainous, are multi-faceted.
Overall, it answered a lot of things and ignored its big issue with Kaolin the first book. It was a pretty okay read. I liked the concept and the Ceruleans, the Arboreals, and the Mertags.
