Literally got sucked into a wormhole BY CHOICE so she didn't have to keep running her whole life from people who want to experiment on her but then they reveal that MAYBE actually what happened is her sister, who can create illusions, just made it LOOK like she got swept away in the wormhole (mind you, before she, Kali, the sister, died which would mean having her own fakeout death to HELP WITH EL'S FAKE OUT DEATH EXCEPT KALI ACTUALLY DID DIE JUST NOT RIGHT WHEN SHE THOUGHT WE DID) and El escaped and went into hiding
Why did the fake-out death suck so much?:
Note that I said MAYBE. The thing is, we don't actually know if it was a fake out death. The whole telling of her fake out death is told as speculation by Mike to his friends 18 months after the event when he finally put some context clues together, but they end the whole thing by saying they don't actually know if it's true that it happened to her or if she did really die that day, and the show shows El going off to some far away small town where she won't be hunted but it's left extremely vague whether that actually happened or if it's just visuals for Mike's storytelling.
SO THEY FAKED OUT THE FAKE OUT DEATH! THEY LEFT IT AMBIGUOUS! WE DON'T KNOW IF SHE DIED OR NOT! WHICH IS ARGUABLY WORSE THAN JUST "yeah she died" OR JUST CONFIRMING THAT SHE DID IN FACT ESCAPE AND ABANDON HER FRIENDS TO SAVE HERSELF (AND FUTURE KIDS)

At the end of the last episode, a bomb exploded and one of the last shots was him being unresponsive in someone else's lap. And then the outro happened. This show gets one episode evers year.
Why did the fake-out death suck so much?:
As I said, the show gets one episode per year and they ended the episode on that. The next episode still isn't out, but presumably he's not dead since he appears on promo photos for the next episode and his actor posted on Instagram about him being alive (three months after the episode aired), but technically there still isn't any actual confirmation for the viewers. We had to wait a whole year.
I didn't know about your Worst Fakeout Death tournament until just now so I didn't have a chance to contribute, but it's missing Anna in Frozen and Elsa in Frozen 2. (I'm calling it right now; in Frozen 3 Kristoff will freeze to death for a minute.)

Why did the fake-out death suck so much?:
I mean. Itâs Disney. Death is not a terribly strange concept for Kingdom Hearts itself but it typically happens to villains, so when youâre twelve years old and watching beloved Disney dog (and possibly devoted father depending on the canonicity of spinoff media in kingdom hearts) GOOFY be treated as actually definitely dead, complete with heartrending reactions from other Disney characters, it sticks with you! You do like three different fights after this! They remove all his equipment! And then he rolls in perfectly goddamn fine afterwards!
I will admit I mostly submitted this because itâs hilarious out of context but that actually did stick with me pretty hard. I remember being actually stunned/upset as a kid.

After they're ambushed, Diego is left gravely injured and tells Manny and Sid to leave him there so they can take the baby back to the humans before it's too late, then he passes out.
Why did the fake-out death suck so much?:
Because in the original script he really was supposed to die but then it was changed, so in the end it was just pointless to even have faked it to begin with. I feel like they could have just removed that part all together, but they were probably already far into production so whatever.

dexter dies at the end of new blood via bullet to the chest but somehow survives to wake from a coma in resurrection.
Why did the fake-out death suck so much?:
dexter dies at the end of new blood, a show that was made to rectify the original dexter's ending because fans hated it. in new blood we have a full arc ending with dexters death which quite frankly needed to happen, especially with the symbolism of deb his dead sister he's been hallucinating the entire run rejecting his hand in the after life after he's spent the whole season being tormented by her ghost for the guilt he feels over her death. and then that just all gets undone for ANOTHER spin off show, one without deb which just makes no sense because their two characters NEED each other in their fucked up little dynamic. all because fans hated THAT ending too like yall gotta just accept an ending at this point my god

He sacrificed himself to fly away with a bomb strong enough to level AN ENTIRE CITY and it exploded in his claws, full force point blank
Why did the fake-out death suck so much?:
He literally just emerges from a cabin a few days later and is like âhey guys Iâm ok!â. This is after this arc ends and he has no relevance to the plot after this. Live Action One Piece fans are sweating.
Because it erased the emotional impact of his death! I really hope things will happen differently in the live action. And not in the 'more believable way for him to survive' way.
He was just... fine like two minutes later. City leveling bomb and he just got a couple cool scars

It devastated Eggsy. You can hear his scream and he becomes really reckless as a result of his mentor's death (and even states that he would rather be with Harry (aka die) than join the bad guys.
There is no real good explaination for why he survived. He just pops up in the 2nd movie and it's just some spy bullshit
They kill Roxy in the 2nd movie... was she also supposed to come back in the 3rd movie that got scrapped? I just hate how they repeated the same trope twice
It cheapens the impact of his death. Harry's death was the emotional gutpunch of the movie, the moment where the fun spy adventure turned real and had actual consequences.
Harry had already spent so much of the 1st movie in a FUCKING COMA and missed Eggsy's training and then he just "dies" ugh

Glenn is shown swarmed by a hoarde screaming while zombies are seemingly ripping out his intestines. Turned out he was pinned under Nicholas' dead body and that's what the zombies were eating.

they made a big show of him getting swallowed up by like a hundred walkers, which at the very least shouldve left him bitten like youre telling me AAALLL them walkers and not a single one got a bite in anywhere?? and then afterwards its like "lol no he was just under the trash bin!" and then they just end up killing him not long after anyway so its like what was the actual point. OH and during the fake death they showed him getting ripped apart and screaming but turns out it was a walker on top of him? or something? it was so convoluted.

X5 was supposed to be the end of the X series, so Zeroâs death was supposed to be a bit more permanent. But in X6, they brought him back with the excuse that, and this is a direct quote, he âhid himself while he tried to repair himselfâ. âŠWHAT DOES THAT MEAN!? The real reason they brought him back was because he was the most popular character in the series.

Getting blasted by a laser but it turns out he just ducked a little and missed it??
Why did the fake-out death suck so much?:
There was a whole emotional arc that was wrapped up with his âdeathâ. It gave eleven a growing experience, having to deal with grief for the first time but in a way that wouldve allowed her to mature and learn a life lesson, something she had been deprived of her entire life being stuck in a lab. It wouldâve allowed to become more human. Not to mention it was treated as a big heroes death to help save other people. Meanwhile the whole thing gets cheapened because sike! Heâs still alive! Because the duffer brothers donât have the balls to kill off a main character (until the last minute anyway apparently but thatâs for another tournament). The plot armor was RIDICULOUS and quite frankly insulting

her home was bombed and she was presumed dead. Since her daughter survived, the main cast didn't look into the explosion for alternative narrative
Why did the fake-out death suck so much?:
because the death was done to allow one of the other main characters to leave the show (being the father) which was mean to her because it was all about how the act impacts him and not likely considering her story or anyone else's. Anyway I totally called it (no body, no death) but it took years for the show to make it canon. I assume there was some issues about the actress returning either when they [fake] killed her or later but she did and now there's a full spin off [streaming series] with her alive and breathing! It was a whole thing about shock and dismay and pain and relief when Ziva did make her return after being forced to allow everyone to think her dead. And to make it seem plausible that the main agent, Gibbs, didn't come look for her they claimed he was too grief struck at losing another 'daughter' to do so? weak. But I kept my faith for YEARS and it paid off so it sucks for my peeps who have to listen to my superior bragging when they believed her death.
tldr: sucks because I felt a little crazy, sucked because it was disrespectful to the character and likely actress, sucked because the rational when she came back was weak, sucks because the people I watch NCIS with now have to forever listen to my superior attitude about the whole thing.
