May I please request some headcanons about ruki and the devil s/o? I would love to see how you would interpret their relationship before I start anything official with them!
Ruki x Devil S/O Headcanons
Given the Devil’s role in the Bible, specifically the Adam and Eve plan, Ruki resonates with the idea of him being a figurative serpent while his Devil s/o is the Sovereign of Hell.
Despite knowing this, he is aware that the Devil does not punish others out of the evil in their heart, but rather because the condemned deserve to be there. Simply put, he sees themselves both as people who just so happen to be the best at punishing others in general.
And truth be told, Ruki knows his final destination in life will be Hell rather than Heaven. He is fully self-aware of the atrocities he has committed, but it’s for this reason he believes they are the perfect match as a romantic couple. After all, what better union than a Vampire who has spent most of his undead life punishing others and a Devil who is in charge of making people regret their actions on earth?
It’s for this reason that he is also intrigued in their previous life before Hell, one in which they might have used to roam the heavens as an Angel of all beings, which he finds very ironic and relatable given how he used to be a human. Both of these distinct changes in who they are makes it easier for him to understand where the Devil comes from in all their decisions and whatnot. God abandoned the Devil, much like how Ruki’s parents abandoned him.
As romantic partners, they might spend most of their free time indulging in the world’s pleasures and wonders, curiously enough. This is because Ruki surmises the Devil has had their fair share of facilitating eternal punishment and damnation and thus would enjoy a breath of fresh air somewhere less reminiscent of home. Not too gloomy yet also not too saintly, either.
It’s for that same reasoning that the two most likely met somewhere fairly ordinary. Immediately they were able to discern that the other is not human and is of a demonic race, therefore they eventually bonded through their shared experiences and trauma and learned to accommodate for one another’s strengths and weaknesses.
Ruki often reminds the Devil that they are truly no paragon of evil like everyone makes them out to be, whereas the Devil helps Ruki realize that he should live for himself rather than his benefactor, Karlheinz. After all, they have seen hundreds of thousands of people condemned to Hell for making the wrong, regrettable choices in life, some of whom most likely carried out deeds for a greater recreant behind the scenes, as is the case with evil syndicates, mafias and the like.
On the other hand, Ruki has shown the Devil that they are not in fact devilish or monstrous to him whatsoever, and if anything, he accepts all of them. This causes the Devil to feel vulnerable around the Vampire in ways that compel them to share everything together.
Ever since they fell in love, the two grew very protective of one another. There is nothing Ruki wouldn’t do for the Devil, and vice versa.
Aside from finding moments of respite, their hobbies consist of Ruki sharing new recipes and dishes he has cooked to appeal to the Devil’s attitude, as he assumes Hell would lack anything gourmet. Because of this, the two often bond over little things such as Ruki’s ironically human attempts at getting to know the Devil despite his vampirism.
Together, they might help one another punish the damned. Ruki knows many creative ways to do so, which surprises even the Devil themselves. It feeds into his sadistic nature, though this is not a frequent pastime of theirs.
Overall, they are a pair who, despite their vulnerabilities and their ties the story of Adam and Eve, throw all of those ‘god-given’ (in Ruki’s case, the godlike figure is Karlheinz) expectations out the window and embark on their own path together. Only when they are together can they carve their own fate.
