Species of the Anadolu Caverns
The creatures are from Turkic myth, this is just how I imagine them.
So, take whatever I write here with a grain of salt.
Here are the creatures of the Anadolu Caverns. Starting off with the regular/good creatures.
In Turkic myth, an Iye, according to Wiki, “is a spirit that is assigned to a specific element, animal, lineage, or place.”
In the Anadolu Caverns, the Iye are sprites that come in five elements: Fire, Forest, Earth, Water, and Air.
They also have animal features, depending on which Element they are.
Water Iye have fish features.
Fire Iye have lizard/salamander features.
Earth Iye have goat features.
Forest Iye have wolf features.
Air Iye have bird features.
They’re short too. Half the size of a human.
Erbörü are werewolves in Turkic myth.
In AC, Erbörü (or Erboru if you can’t add the two dots on O and U). They’re Friendly muscular doggos of the cavern who love to help around with buildings, tech, and other heavy things, and in return are given tasty treats.
In myth, they are spiritual elf beings, and they are said to look like an elf similar to others (according to wiki), which we can guess that they look similar to European elves.
But in AC, they look more cat-like elves. Why? Well, there are three reasons.
Since the Erbörü are canis, why not make the Neme felines?
Deers tend to be heavily associated with elves in media, but there are other animals that are also associated with elves, such as cats.
In Turkiye, there are lots of cats.
While Nemes are nature creatures, the Iye already have that covered, so the Nemes are known as weavers and clothiers of the Anadolu caverns.
In AC, Shahmaran, or the snake folk, are known for having lots of knowledge in healing and other medicinal things. They’re the doctors/healers of the Anadolu Caverns. Many creatures and humans, except for the demons, go to them for help.
Plus, snakes are used in the medicine symbol, so it makes sense for them to be doctors/healers.
Original species I created to be the opposite of the Shadow Clan. Plus, I’ll be make an info bio post about just them some other time.
The humans of the cavern call them Melek (Singular) and Melekler (Plural) as a nickname. Both words translate to Angel (S) and Angels (P).
Since the Shadow Clan doesn’t exist in the Anadolu Caverns, the Bright Clan is the native clan of AC.
The Bright Clan is known for their knowledge and wisdom. They are keepers of scrolls, artifacts, and books.
They are also sometimes, jokingly, called the bookworm/nerd clan because of how many of them love to read and study, which isn’t bad. After all, they're bright.
Now for the Demons of the Anadolu Caverns (The deep and closed off parts of the caverns).
For short, Erlik is a deity of evil and death in Turkic myth.
But in the Anadolu caverns, they are a species of high-ranked and strong demon species.
Yek in myth are devils, demons, fairies, etc. They are described to be evil, gluttonous and cannibalistic. They’re also referred to as vampire-like demons since they have a hunger for flesh and blood. There isn’t that much info about them.
In other sources, Yek is another term for Obur.
So, in the Anadolu caverns, Yeks are flying creatures with bat-like features (since bats are associated with vampires) who eat alot. They are always hungry and will sometimes, but rarely, eat one of their own.
While there are the Obur (Ubir) and Mhachkay (Meçkey) who are also described as vampire monsters according to sources, in the end, I’ll stick with the Yek.
Basty, in myth, are nightmare spirits.
In the Anadolu Caverns, the Basty are the size of humans, but look like slender, grotesque skeletal creatures. They only come out at night.
If they’re close to a human or any other creature who is sleeping, this will cause the sleeper to start having horrible nightmares.
All the demons rule under the three Erlik brothers, the Khans (Kings) of demons.
Luckily for every other creature, the three brothers don’t get along with each other.
I will be making sketches and concept art of these creatures to show what they look like.
For now, that’s all folks!
