                 i   will   not   know   piece   until   I  can   figure   out   /   properly   elaborate   the   significance   between  these  two   scenes  . . .   so,   the  best  I  could  come  up  with  is   that   when  jet   attacked   zuko,  it   was   a   PTSD   response   stemming  from  hyper-vigilance  and   impulse  to   re-live   trauma  in  order  to  cope  with  it   . . .   that   it   what   it   was   technically  . . .   and   the  symbolism  I’ve   found   with   the   wheatgrass   jet   practically   made   a   personality   trait   out   of  ,  is   that   it   was   a   way   to   help   him   stem   as   well   as   ground   him  and   remind   him  of   what  he   consider   home  (   growing  up   in  a   village  and  likely  on  a   farm  )   ;   when  zuko  cut  it,  as   dumb   as  it  is,   it  could  have  been  symbolism  of   the   fire   nation  taking  one  more   thing   from  him  in  violence.   what  happened  between   these  two  scenes  was  a   whole  brainwashing  session  that   made   jet   believe  that   he   was   safe,   that   the   fire  nation   was   no   longer  a   threat,   that   he  could  find  peace  now   within  the   walls   (   call   Ba  Sing  Se   home  . . .   ouchie.  )    so  when  he  spits   it   out,   what  sokka   seemed  to  put  together  was  a  lost   puzzle  piece  of  who  jet  was  and  what  could  trigger  some  part  of   him   back  to  life,   jet  was  too   detached  at  that  point.   he   no  longer   was   in  a   mindset   of   needing   it  or  caring  for   it.    his   memories   of   home   were   no   longer   willingly   oppressed,   but   forcibly.    again,  as   dumb  as   it  is,   if   you  really   analyze   these   scenes  for  all  their   worth,   jet’s   inevitable   death   was   hinted   at   right  then  and  there.   they   established  a   character   willing   to   change,   was  unable   to  because   of   trauma   then   proceeded   to   cut   him   down   little   by  little   until   he   was   back   in   that  helpless   state   he   fought   like   hell   to  avoid.
