Surprising, though, to see Togusa here on his stretch of beach a country and a half an ocean away from where they’d last met. Still, it’d probably be better under different circumstances- if Togusa weren’t coming out of that car, though, that car with the FBI plates, it’d definitely be better. ...It was him, right?

Truth be told, she didn’t know him all that well, but they had built a good enough rapport. At this point in her career she was focusing a little too much on extra-curriculars with Clark, that she didn’t really have a personal life. It was why it was almost serendipitous that she bumped into Henry now, just when she had left the humane society. “His temporary name is blue for now until they find him someone.” she added.

   “Let me guess, you walked into a door,” is her response, dryly uttered without a hint of sincerity, though the concern is evident in her expression alone. He’s about as good at lying to her as she is at putting up with it and the last thing she wants is for him to feel like he can’t tell her things. 

    He hasn’t been sleeping if his bloodshot eyes are any indication, he’s got a bruise on his cheek and cuts on his hands, so whatever ‘trouble’ he’s gotten into doesn’t seem like the regular kind. She turns to fish around in the first-aid bag and removes an instant ice pack, snapping it and holding it out to him. “At least put that on your cheek.” 

   She pauses for a long moment, curiosity and compassion warring inside of her and, as ever, curiosity wins out. “At least consider telling me the truth, Shag. I think I deserve that.”
