Pink Pineapple. I once had a coworker that had been to Hawaii and seen a pineapple plantation. She was telling me about how the pineapples grow underground. On the one hand I thought that her misconception was hilarious but on the other hand, I can see how it was an understandable mistake if you saw rows and rows of small pineapple bromeliads in the ground and just assumed the pineapple fruit must be underneath.

Came across this “sugarloaf” pineapple on my recent road trip. Vendors took off the top so that it can’t be replanted not realizing that there were seeds inside 😏. Although it will take much longer to produce pineapples from the seeds, I’m happy to be able to add this variety to our food forest. Flesh is tender, juicy and rich.
