Kind of sucks for the Tully girl that even in the everyone lives AU of AP where jace was betrothed to her (idk maybe laenyra forgot about it or something) he’d elope with Baela
Jace would never! He's the King - he'd have it properly undone by the faith 😇 (Him and Daemon would agree on something for once)
Anarchy Preempted AU with Fem!Jace and male!Baela 🧍♀️
Jace would probably think giving Baelon kids and reaffirming “his claim” would save Luke. Because obviously he will be the ‘real’ ruler of the two of them when she reaches majority! Probably too dark an au actually, but you usually make everything emo so I’m trying to keep it on brand. 😂
I wasn't sure if this was a drabble request or just an idea of how this verse would go - behind a cut as longish (and dark) if you want a drabble request give me an age and i'll try!
It would be dark, I think yeah. I do think Jacaera would be less convinced she was going to die as a girl whose claim can be ignored even if Daemon has inexplicably crowned her and constantly convinced Luke was, which is not too helpful for her state of mind. And she knows what her fate is likely to be as a captured girl from the start.
Like when Laena came to get Jace for the wedding in the main fic he was clueless at first, but Jacaera would be given a wedding cloak and panic and be frantically telling Lady Laena she hasn't flowered and not really here for listening to reassurence. Only Baelon being her age would calm her down.
Jace is engaging with Baela on the wedding night because you have to be nice to girls where as Baelon would be getting yes my lord husbanded to death by Jacaera (and still cross about the insult to his grandfather if that had been said.)
Jacaera would desperately to hide when she flowered (ala Sansa - possibly with less panic and slightly more success but not much.)
I think a turning point would have been when Daemon dragged Jace out of the sept and they fell down and bloodied their nose - he'd be much sorrier to have done it to a girl (not that Jacaera believes him) but when he gets back to the keep and Baelon who is more likely to be in the yard than Baela and see his strange quiet little wife who hates him with her busted up nose he'd be outraged "Have you stuck my wife?"- he punches his dad in the face. This goes badly for him because he's still a preteen and Daemon punches back out of instinct but is probably their first moment of connection. He tried.
Saving Rhaena getting her improved treatment (or less ignoring from Baelon because I think he'd be less snappy than female Baela. Laena did install some manners in him about not being rude to girls that just don't have the same connontations for Baela being rude to a boy, husband or not and Laena is there to reinforce them) would probably only confirm to Jacaera he'd rather have married Rhaena and is stuck with her. Rather than thinking he could just being happy his sister isn't dragonfodder. And got a dragon.
Also without Jace holding the line they probably would be sharing a bed earlier ala Rhaenys saying Laena would bed Viserys at 14. But nothing would be happening Baelon's not dumb and not into unwilling (he remains unaware of the gender politics behind brothel work - so that anon can fuck off if they are about to start) so he didn't touch her and just cut his hand and marked the sheet when it started. Jacaera is like this is because I'm not pretty (and he's also still out making his own arrangements for sex) which is unhelpful for her thoughts on that front. (So yes cheating he literally thinks his wife doesn't want him so what does she care. ) Jacaera is getting side eye from the maids and then Rhaenys (when she's in town because she's extra mad Daemon has crowned a ten year old Queen) every time she gets her moonblood and Laena like encouraging maybe next month while Jacaera is thinking not likely. Jacaera wouldn't push like Baela so her attempts would be assuring Baelon she would do her duty and he's backing out of the room like that's the least hot thing anyone has ever said.
Jacaera didn't go to driftmark when Laena went into Labour either because Baelon was fully available as no-one summons a son to his mother's childbed (I mean normally - Jace and Luke got to in canon but I think the childbed and the war breaking out at once made an exception.)
Jacaera might be able to hold Alyssa and hint she wants a baby - she could use that plot and Baelon like ah? with me? you don't otherwise seem keen.
Honestly I think Jacaera could keep it all in until she gives birth to a daughter and Baelon is like we can call her Rhaenyra. He's trying and the hormones over take over and she's in tears like I needed a boy so your family don't kill my brother. Baelon :what now?
I’m not gonna ask any of my burning questions about the fabulous new chapter of anarchy preempted because of course you won’t be able to spoil it!
So I’ll ask the changes in dynamic you picture if Joffrey aka Lyonel survived. That’s right, an au ask!
I’d assume he stays with Jace. Maybe Jace chills a bit seeing how stringent daemon is around his sickly little brothers care or maybe Jace is even more emo somehow haha (hopefully not for poor Baela she’s going through it in the romance department in this verse bc Jace’s talent at hiding his emotions and motives).
Picturing how Daemon in this verse deals with Rhaenyra’s newborn sickly baby after she dies is a fun thought (sounds a bit morbid now that I’m typing it out 💀).
That blonde menace has now got a moody teen to raise as king and a little toddler following him around all regency. Laena’s probably just glad there’s something else to keep him too busy to complain 🙄
Gosh - I really think that if Lyonel survived, pregnant Laena would have taken him intending to raise him with her own baby (who died unnamed in canon with her, and was called Aemon here for her grandfather) rather than Daemon having much involvement with a very small child in the regency. And then when Aemon was stillborn she would have kept the child she was already raising and attached to (and Rhaenyra was her cousin and friend so there are multiple layers there) but Jace would have been busy with being a cup bearer at council and learning in the yard and not been allowed to spend that much time in the nursery. So Lyonel would have seemed like he was more part of their family than his and probably that would have really really hurt and left Jace worse off than he is already.
But I think given that he might be a little more hopeful Daemon would let Lyonel live than he is about himself.
75 is feeling anarchy preempted Jacela hijinks idk
“Let’s just bury the hatchet.” - “Fuck your hatchet.”
They stood at the altar at the Sept which meant Baela was already in a mood. His wife - an odd notion to think. They were both not yet one and ten, was often in a mood. They both wore all black - without any red for once. Sept was held in very low regard in her eyes. As was he. So today was not a good day at all for the Queen.
"Please," he said quietly as the High Septon had wofted incense over them. "Let's just bury the hatchet?" It was the wrong terminology to use. Two moons ago on Smith's day - the last time Baela had been in the Sept. The last time Jacaerys had been here without getting in trouble. He had been presented with a fine array of weapons by the smiths of the city. The Queen had been given an array of candlesticks, a wrought iron fireguard and a dragonheaded poker.
Jacaerys hadn't even gotten to keep any of the weapons. Daemon had taken them off to the armoury within an hour of their arrival back at Red Keep.
"Fuck your hatchet," Baela hissed under her breath. "This is boring. Why did you make me come?"
Jacaerys had made a small intake of breath at her language. In the Sept.
"You are the Queen," he said. "You should want to celebrate the Holy Days with the people." The day of the Stranger was when people prayed for those who had passed on. Jacaerys had thought Baela would want to pray for her brother if nothing else.
She spat something back in Valyrian which was intended to be mean. Until recently he would not have understood it. But Daemon had not been pleased to find little Valyrian had been spoken in the household Jacaerys had been raised and now there were days that he spoke to Jacaerys in nothing but that tongue saying it would make it stick quicker. He did not get everything Baela said but he caught the words for insufferable and prig. She had thrown them at him before smug about her own command of the language she said was their mother tongue. Jacaerys decided to ignore her and bent his knee at the altar to pray. He had a lot more dead to pray for than she did anyway.
100. You’ve got me needing Baela whump to match her husband. If Daemon noticed Jace’s interest around the Tully girl and mistakenly assumed it was romantic interest Baela who’s in love with him definitely did! They have such good communication in canon idky I find their miscommunication so delicious!
Baela had found herself in trouble from her own instincts before, there was a downside to being impulsive and being Queen. It was easy to arrange things to her own whims, it was not so easy to get out of them.
Lady Janyce was boring, and not only did Baela have to endure the rest of this tea with her because being invited to tea with the Queen was an honour and thus she wasn’t allowed to cancel midway through to go and ride her dragon. But worse her Mother had been so thrilled she'd done something lady like she was after Baela to name ladies again. The only lady Baela wanted was Rhaena, Baela had said that again and again and been ignored.
Baela had noticed Jacaerys looking at Janyce at court when her Uncle had presented her. She had been dressed in the colours of her house which looked dreadful with her Tully hair.
“Do you know her?” Baela had asked because it was unusual for Jacaerys to pay attention to any visitor to court. He normally liked to attract as little notice as possible. Lady Janyce had not been to court before she was sure but Jacaerys had been to the Riverlands on three occasions as a child, he'd told her. Twice with both his parents and once with just his father. So it was possible, Baela knew.
“No,” Jacaerys had said. “I met Lord Elmo at Harrenhal once before his father passed. He took Luke and I and his son fishing while his father met with my father and grandfather, the lady is his cousin.” Jacaerys had a great fascination with the Riverlands, Baela knew. Because of his father Mother had told her once that Baela had been promised to him even when he was only to be Lord of Harrenhal.
Baela did not often have many chances to question someone about the Riverlands but Janyce had so far proved very unhelpful. She had talked about all the fish they ate and none of the sweets sounded appealing. Baela had eaten candied flowers in Pentos - they tasted like perfume and she didn’t think it would be better if they were Westerosi flowers. And Jacaerys didn't even like fish, he pushed it around his plate whenever it was served and Baela didn’t think it would be different if it were river trout.
“Lady Janyce,” Baela said interrupting a dreary story about embroidery. “Have you ever been to Harrenhal?”
“We stayed on the way to court,” Lady Janyce said. “It was awful - my brother said it is haunted and even the restored Kingspyre tower looks like a half-melted candle, and the other towers are worse.”
The Tully girl seemed like very little threat even if she was pretty. Baela was prettier and she had a dragon. And she was his wife albeit in name only despite her hints. She would like to visit a haunted castle - though she decided referring to Harrenhal in such a manner would probably not be her best tactic.
When Baela and Jace consumate, will she be jealous and compare herself to the prostitute she thinks he slept with?
I know people have different interpretations of characters but Baela as I write her has been jealous of exactly one person in her life in that verse and it was of Jace having Daemon’s attention (she has mixed feelings about that now oops)
The Velaryon guards going from protectors to people to be feared forever for Jace in AP is sooo
Corlys from the grandad who much prefers Luke but at least isn't ignoring him like grandma Rhaenys (i mean in fairness in AP Corlys is also now more fond of Luke)
Sorry I’m absolutely spamming you but I just had another question. What’s Corlys-Luke relationship like in anarchy preempted? Luke speaks of him in his letters - I think Jace mentions not unfondly to some degree.
You’ve said previous Luke’s not getting the full picture so it could allow for some canon fondness Corlys had for him. Would also allow for some nice whump when Jace becomes king in truth and realises he’s gets to vent to Luke about Corlys without consequences.
Corlys losing his grandson in every life time 😫😫😫
A lot of this will be answered by the next chapter so I will try and have it up as soon as possible
