@ancalagxn liked for a post EW starter!
He woke that morning, shaking, trembling, the nightmare fresh in his mind of the Final Days. He’d watched as somehow his friends had succumbed to despair one by one and then turned on him, monstrous, distorted.
It was still dark out, the sun having yet to rise and since he wasn’t sure whether he’d woken the Au Ra he was using as a pillow, one arm stretched across that broad chest sought Ancalagon’s hand, needing more contact even though he could feel the reaper’s chest rising and falling beneath his cheek.
He feared that he would look out of the window and see the sky aflame once more. And that fear would turn him into a monster too.
It was easy to let fear get the better of him in those quiet, dark hours. When there was no adrenaline to carry him, no task or objective to hold his attention and keep him focused.
While normally he would try not to wake his companion, that morning before even the grey light of dawn shone through the gaps in the curtains, he hoped truly that he had indeed woken his bedmate.
