ANCIENT HEADS’ final show at React! Showcase on May 14, 2016. I saw their final hometown show in Toronto this March, but seeing them play in DC on the same day that Mindset said goodbye was really incredible.

The Ancient Heads “We’re Not Worthy” design. I had a lot of anxiety over this one, mostly because I just kept worrying that people wouldn’t recognize Johnny Rotten or Glen Danzig (looks kinda like Elvis...which in hindsight is kinda cool in and of itself) and also because the concept was so cool (Mt. Rushmore reimagined with “punk/hc” icons) that I didn’t wanna fuck up. Mixed feelings on the execution, I’d really hoped this one was gonna be my ACTUAL Rushmore piece...but IDK. I can see there’s some clunkiness here and there and as with any graphic, I can go back and see places where I could make it look better. Still, I learned a lot about drawing faces from this one and i’m still really stoked with how well I nailed everyone’s facial features and expressions...even if they don’t really look like they’ve been carved out of stone. These were printed on shirts and produced in a limited run.
