Ancient Slang - Fake Future
<a href="http://ancientslang.bandcamp.com/album/fake-future" data-mce-href="http://ancientslang.bandcamp.com/album/fake-future">Fake Future by Ancient Slang</a>
This record was originally slated for physical release in early May, which means I've spent a good part of the last two months turning the phrases "Ancient Slang" and "Fake Future" over in my head. But you didn't come hear to read some wanker go through intellectual gymnastics about how time acts like a prism that defines our perceptions along a sliding scale; you came here for some rock 'n' roll. And thankfully, Ancient Slang have obliged.
Fake Future is the group's first 7" out on GloryHole Records, and the title track is a relentless, charging missile of raw power gravitating around a hook that gets in your bloodstream and resets your pulse to its own frequency. It's a ferocious display of post-punk grooves retooled for urgency, and it deserves to blow the f*ck up.
They're playing the release party tomorrow night at some place in Indianapolis called Debbie's Palace of Noise & Laundry with Burberry Cologne-favorites The Hussy. For those readers in the greater Chicago area considering making the trek: Holler atcha boi.
Tonight! House Party. Caves (just back from Europe), w/ Crys, Oreo Jones, and Ancient Slang live at Group Home (1659 N. College). Starts at 7 PM. Break yo' self, fool.
