CLEARING OUT OLD ASKS
To the people who, bless you so much, sent me numbers from this ask meme 5 months ago. I was bogged down with school work and that evolved into neglect/lost doodle files...it was a mess so I’ll ask this as best I can in text form.
UNDER CUT BECAUSE THERE’S GOING TO BE QUITE A BIT AND TWO PARTS (but good character facts). Part 1 of 2 [Part 2]
11) Do they have any family? What’s their relationship like with them? [Dreiton, Ehlika, Maurou]
Dreiton: Magister Calum is pretty much Dreiton’s little sister to him and Cava’s somewhat of an “adoptive mother figure” that dissolved into a colleague.
Ehlika: Scholar Nicodemus is Ehlika’s beloved and adored big brother.
Maurou: Vildwyn was not only his savor so many cycles ago but someone he cares for deeply and extremely precious to him. Maurou looks at her as a mother figure.
13) What’s their favorite place in Tyria, and why? [Ehlika, Kiara]
Ehlika: She enjoys Kessex Hils and the western parts of Gendarran Fields for their temperate climates and scenery. Her absolute FAVORITE spot is the spot where the vista and strawberry patches over look the port town of Garrenhoff and the Wizard’s Tower. There’s a breeze that passes through that always settles her spirits if she’s feeling upset and the local ettin don’t seem to mind her too much.
Kiara: One of Kiara’s fondest places is the area near the Meatoberfest in Diessa Plateau. Not only was there food and drink there but she got to play with her cubs and has a lot of fond memories of her little family there in the festivities.
14) What’s their least favorite place, and why? [Ehlika, Kiara]
Ehilika: Everthing northeast of Queensdale and northwest of Diessa Plateau. Basically the Shiverspeak region. Once you get above Lion’s Arch in latitude it starts becoming cooler in climate and Ehlika absolutely despises the cold. Poor little strawberry would die of frostbite within an hour in Frostgorge Sound.
Kiara: Kiara is pretty adjustable in terms of area but she really dislikes humid and swampy areas. Not as thick of fur as her sister, Sarabi, but the humidity in the air is enough to rust out her equipment if she’s not careful and being as big as she is, her strength gets sapped. ALWAYS A PAIN TO GO INTO THE MAGUUMA JUNGLE.
15) Describe a high point in their story, and then a low point. [Ehlika, Dreiton, Maurou]
Dreiton: Dreiton’s had a few memorable high points in his life; joining the Priory and meeting Calum, his promotion to Magister, a number of interesting and exciting field trips. He’s also had his fair share of low points in his lie.
The most recent high point was a duet field trip to Orr to research the mursaat and find any evidence of Orrians interacting with the inner mechanisms with The Mists. Dreiton doesn’t offer this type of trip to his students, even to colleagues, but he posted a notice too little too late and the only person to show up, thinking there would be more students, was Thornberry Supreme Scholar Nicodemus. Dreiton and Nico actually had a rocky start despite Dreiton being Nico’s advisory. Since an Eye-To-Eye talk, there’s been a mutual respect between them. With this field trip however, the two of them got to know one another quite well. NOTHING BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER LIKE RELYING ON THE OTHER PERSON FOR YOUR LIFE AND RUNNING FROM UNDEAD. They became good friends post the trip and I think something budded as a result.
A low point for Dreiton was definitely the fall out he had with his dearheart about a decade ago. The two of them were practically inseparable and deeply in love with one another. However, I suppose it’s true that lust can be stronger than love, and both of them lusted for power. This lust for power, a bastardization of a “wyld hunt” they shared, is what slowly drove them apart until a bush with death snapped Dreiton out of that powerlust. Since then he has no idea where their wearabouts are. He still thinks about them from time to time and wonders how they’re doing because he still does love them...wherever they are...
Ehlika: SINCE EHLIKA’S MUCH YOUNGER SHE’S GOT LESS TO COMPARE TO THAN DREITON. With a smile on her face and a pep in her step it seems like she’s always on a high point in her life. Every new adventure and every new face she meets, places she discovers, or even cultures she experiences is a new and wondrous thing to her. The little surprises of life is what she thrives on. Discovering new things about herself, good things that she never came across or new achievements bring her a modest happiness that touches her in a way nothing else has. Bettering herself for the world.
A LOW POINT WAS DEFINITELY HER FIRST REAL ENCOUNTER WITH THE NIGHTMARE COURT. That run into Twilight Arbor (more to read here) really stripped away quite a bit of hope, self-confidence, and durability within herself and took a while to get to a state where she was able to take back that lost confidence. Even now it’s starting to come back with the Mordrem being on the rise.
Maurou: Shy berry’s a little different in that a low point of his life was also a high point of his life. The Nightmare Court had experimented with a new breed of Nightmare Vines and used a near by sylvari village as their "testing ground" to see just how devastating these vines can be. Spiny, aggressive, and relentless, these vines tore through the village like wet paper. Unfortunately, Maurou was caught in the raid; a larger vine grabbed him by the ankle and tossed him around like a rag doll.
Almost in death's embrace, a platoon of Astorian wardens and Vigil members came careening through the village and eradicated anything that was related to the Court. A courageous and boisterous sylvari named Vildwyn and a small squad she lead saved him from the maw of the Nightmare Vine, To this day, Maurou believes he would have died had it not been for her and is eternally indebted, by choice, to Vildwyn.
