I've seen a lot of complaints that the Murderbot TV show dumbed Ratthi down and turned him into a himbo. And his show personality is definitely exaggerated and more comedic, but in the books Ratthi has also:
attempted to leave the hopper to retrieve (non-Murderbot) equipment during a retreat from hostile fauna, in his first on-page appearance.
tried to befriend the antisocial killing machine so hard it snitched on him to his boss.
brought his 'lucky' spare feed interface with him on the 'ransoming Mensah's life' mission where they were carrying only the bare essentials.
butted into a hostage situation to defend Murderbot's personhood.
He is a wonderful person and a wonderful character and I love him, but he's also always been kind of a goober.
