Agate world

This painting is of my favourite mineral: agate. 

When I was a kid (before I learned that it is, unfortunately, dyed blue), I had a blue agate rock that I used to make stories up about - stories where it was magical. I’d look at the strange bands and swirls in the light and be fascinated. I wrote some of these stories down, and it still influences my story ideas even now.

I painted a version of this 4 years ago, but at the time I didn’t have the skills to create the image I envisioned. This is a lot closer, and I actually really like this painting! For me, that is rare. I feel like my understanding of colour has really progressed in those 4 years, somehow. I wonder where I will be in 4 years time?

What if they went to the beach in Alola with a brand new motto and relaxed in swimsuits for an episode or two... I’m really surprised it never happened but they keep throwing at us Malasada shop again and again
