What do you think of the theory that Fain affected Egwene a little during her visits with him in the dungeons? He messes up everyone else with whom he has that much contact, like the regular guards. He says that he made Elaida & Niall less trusting; what if that's why Egwene goes from hugging Rand despite his channeling, at the end of EotW, to telling Min that he's not safe, in tGH (after learning he is the Dragon, with a destiny that might protect him). & it could explain her arrogance goggles.
eh...it doesn’t work for me personally, but I suppose mileage could vary on this one. I feel like there’s virtually no narrative indication that way, so it doesn’t feel like that’s the idea here. Also, I actually prefer it if Egwene’s responses, both positive and negative, to her increasing position of power are her own, rather than some outside effect, because I think it makes for a more compelling character arc.
But if it works for you, go with it.
