Hey man, I saw your living weapon staring at its reflection. You might wanna get that looked at
Yeah, your emotionless tool of destruction is beginning to develop a sense of self. Probably nothing to worry ‘bout though
after the latest Chalamet discourse, I'm curious:
Have you ever been to a live opera, ballet, or play?
I've been to an opera
I've been to a ballet
I've been to a play
I've been to an opera and a ballet but not a play
I've been to an opera and a play but not a ballet
I've been to a ballet and a play but not an opera
I've been to all three of these
I've been to none of these
Nuance (tell me more!?)
For the purpose of this poll, musicals are classified as a play! Only count if you actually saw the show live, not a video of it.
What's a book written by a woman that changed your life or that you consider a classic? Any genre, any language.
cursed thought: modern au wei wuxian absolutely invented the blockchain. no i will not be taking constructive criticism at this time.
years on, having had the chance to reflect on it, I realise I got this one wrong.
So I want to take this chance to acknowledge, apologise for, and correct my mistake. I was influenced by the conversations going on at the time, and couldn't see past that. It's not the precise read of his character I thought it was; in fact it does him something of an injustice.
modern AU Wei Wuxian wouldn't waste his time on the blockchain.
modern AU Wei Wuxian invented LLMs.
pros of training for ultra-endurance events: it takes up all the time you might otherwise spend dwelling on The Horrors
cons of training for ultra-endurance events: it also takes up all the time you might otherwise spend on the books and shows you're in the middle of
pros of picking one of the most notorious ultra-endurance events: that's it that's the pinnacle once you've done that you never have to do it again.
cons of picking one of the most notorious ultra-endurance events: okay but what if you did it again though.
Maybe I should make a fictional monarchy that always passes its secession to an opposite gendered child. Just to create new forms of court drama you understand.
Like the crown passes from father to daughter to son to daughter to son and so on.
Is there any irl society that would do this? No. Would it add an extra layer to who’s trying to kill which sibling and why? Yes.
"Look, it's really not that complicated. We just had a king. If we had another king right away, the people would get confused. And when the people get confused, bad things happen."
"Not to mention it makes the numbers so much easier to follow. You lot went from Edward III to Richard II to Henry IV? The fuck? Whereas in our system a king takes his grandfather's name upon ascension and a queen takes her grandmother's. Kingsname II follows Queensname II and then on to Queensname III. And to keep the numbers from getting too high, whenever a nonbinary monarch comes along they pick a new era name to reset everything, and the next kings and queens take the appropriately masculine and feminine versions. Simple."

Back in one of my favourite cities in the world for the next month or two and every time I'm here I wonder why I don't just move for real, and the answer is that I'm finally living in my other favourite city in the world and if I break residency there it'll be really hard to get it back.
And there are worse problems to have, certainly, but I do think it's about time we figured out teleportation.
'aftermath of torture'? coward. show me the math of torture. the calculus of evil and the terrible geometry of pain.

sentient weapon can have a little sentient weapon. as a treat.
house of leaves is like. here have a story that is constructed in four layers, an annotation of a compilation of a critique of a record, not to mention the implied creation of a sprawling academic discipline around that very record, and if you dig into it, really scratch the surface and the walls, follow the labyrinth to its deepest truest centre, to the core of it all, what you discover there
is a void.
love it when an extremely high-functioning and put-together character gets slammed with something that would topple any lesser person but continues to function in an alarmingly efficient manner while everyone who knows and cares about them flutters anxiously around them like "please lie down please rest please accept medical attention" while the high-functioning character just looks askance at all their concerned faces like "what are you talking about? I'm perfectly fine" as tiny cracks start appearing in their demeanor and facade
I love chessmasters as much as the next person but an underrated setup is when the 'strategist' and 'tactician' components are split between two characters.
It's fun when they collaborate, of course; when they rely on and complement one another, and run rings around their enemies.
But even better is when it becomes a core source of conflict.
Tactician who cannot accept Strategist's ruthless sacrifices in the name of pragmatism vs Strategist who wants to shake Tactician until they understand that their actions have consequences.
'Why didn't you do something?' vs 'Look what you've done'.
