When I was little, female characters were not my favorite. Because they wore skirts. And they were glamorous. I played a lot of Mario Kart as a kid. Yoshi was my favorite for the longest time. Because he was fast and agile. Peach and Daisy were okay, but they wore the insufferable poofy skirts. I did not understand skirts. Wait is the point of wearing clothes that you cannot climb and tumble and run around in? What is the point of delicate fabrics when there is a whole world to explore? I liked games that I could choose a female character without a skirt, a female character who wasn't pink and delicate. There's nothing wrong with those characters, but those characters weren't me. I don't mind skirts so much anymore. Because now I wear shorts under them. I can twirl and look delicate. But I can climb and tumble and run around as I please.

I wish men would stop negating my gender because I don't fit the stereotype.

I wish they would stop saying "you don't count" when it comes to the subject of women because I demand respect for myself.

I wish that men would stop acting threatened by my lack of stereotype to find nothing to pick at in order to keep a conversation going and then proceed to stop talking to me altogether without a warning.
